Simon’s Update
A huge well done to our Year 1 children, staff, parents and carers for a fantastic trip into central London and along the river this week. The children had an absolutely wonderful day and it was lovely to hear just how much they got out of the experience. Opportunities like this bring learning to life in such a memorable way, and the excitement and enthusiasm from the children was wonderful to see.
Year 4 are currently in the thick of their Shakespeare project based on The Winter’s Tale, working alongside the Primary Shakespeare Company. This is now the third year we have run the project and it continues to be one of the richest and most inspiring learning opportunities we offer. Shakespeare gives children the chance to develop confidence, creativity, teamwork and oracy skills in such a unique way, and it is incredible to watch them immerse themselves so fully in the language, characters and storytelling. We are fully committed to this becoming a true Brookfield staple that every Year 4 child experiences during their time with us.
I also want to give a huge shout out to our entire Year 6 community — children, staff and families alike. The children are ready for their assessments next week and they have worked incredibly hard. They have made tremendous progress and we are all so, so proud of these amazing young people. Their dedication, resilience and support for one another has been fantastic to see and they truly deserve to feel proud of themselves. They are going to smash it next week! Now, make sure you all have a lovely weekend and a really good night’s sleep on Sunday!
Finally, just a quick note on the newsletter functionality. I have made an amendment behind the scenes after discovering that some report links and dropdown tabs were not working properly on certain phones. Hopefully this has now resolved the issue going forward (famous last words!) but I will keep checking over the coming week to make sure everything is appearing as it should.
Have a lovely weekend all!
Upcoming Governor Vacancy – Finance
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Logan, our Finance Governor, whose term of service is coming to an end in the Autumn. Logan has provided invaluable support and challenge to the school, and we are very grateful for his commitment and contribution.
We are now seeking a new governor with a background in finance to support the school, beginning in the Autumn term. If you, or someone you know, have relevant experience and would be interested in finding out more about the role, we would be very pleased to hear from you.
Please contact our Chair of Governors, Emma Jay, at emma.a.jay@gmail.com for an informal discussion.
Anti-Racism Workshop for Parents and Carers
We are pleased to share that the Anti-Racism Committee will be hosting a workshop for Brookfield parents and carers on Friday 15th May, 9:00–11:00am in the school’s bottom hall.
This workshop is free to attend and offers an opportunity for families to engage in important conversations around anti-racism within our community.

International Evening
This is a wonderful opportunity for all Brookfield families to come together and to celebrate the rich diversity within our school community. The evening is full of food stalls from all over the world, musical performances, and an exciting art exhibition by the children. We also encourage both children and parents to come dressed in traditional cultural clothing, helping us create a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere. We will need everyone's help to make this a wonderful community event!
In preparation for the event, we would appreciate any donations of cardboard or arts and crafts materials. These will be used by the children as they work on their art exhibition projects.
We look forward to celebrating together and experiencing the many cultures that make up our amazing Brookfield community!
Cakes and Cargo Bikes
On Hampstead Heath. Saturday 9th May 10-12 near Bandstand
Come and join local parent network the Camden Cargo Collective for a morning chat about cargo bikes and how they can revolutionise your journey to school. You'll be able to test ride some different bikes and find out all about them from local parents who have already taken the plunge. What do kids think of them? What style will suit you best? What are the most affordable options? Come and join our Cargo Collective and find out more. Bring the kids. Eat cake!
Already have a cargo bike? We’d love to meet you! Do come along, say hello and give other parents the benefit of your expertise.

Year 3 & 4 Football Tournament
I hope this message finds you well! I wanted to share some fantastic news about our Year 3/4 football teams who took part in the Camden Schools Sports Association (CSSA) football tournament at the Hampstead Heath on Wednesday.
Our girls came so close to qualifying for the finals, narrowly missing out by just one point! They played brilliantly, winning 2 matches and losing 2. The boys equally played brilliantly finishing first in their group with 3 wins and 1 draw! This means they have now secured a place in the finals!
The boys will play 3 group games on Tuesday 12th May at 15:50, and we would love for you to come down and support them. We’ll be playing on the Heath, near the back of the Lido. Both teams displayed exemplary sportsmanship and made me a very proud coach by embodying what we call… THE BROOKFIELD WAY!
Thank you for your continued support.
