Simon’s Update
A very warm welcome back to everyone after the half-term break.
The weather this week has certainly reminded us what a traditional British summer can look like – lashings of rain, blustery winds, and plenty of conversations about whether it's completely out of the question to pop the heating back on! Thankfully, the forecast promises much warmer weather in the coming week, and we're looking forward to making the most of it as we head into the final half term of the academic year.
This week, I wanted to give a huge shout-out to our Year 4 children for two fantastic achievements.
Firstly, they have seen the culmination of their Shakespeare project, with performances of A Winter's Tale taking place in real, working theatres. It has been wonderful to see how fully the children have engaged with the entire process. They have embraced every opportunity, worked incredibly hard, and have been absolutely buzzing with excitement and pride throughout the week. A massive well done to everyone involved.
Secondly, our Year 4 children have been preparing for their national Multiplication Tables Check. While this takes the form of a short online assessment, it is still a significant challenge, and both the children and staff have worked incredibly hard to tackle it head-on. We are immensely proud of the determination, resilience and positive attitude they have shown throughout their preparation. The outcomes, both creatively through their Shakespeare work and academically through their maths learning, are looking stellar. Well done, Year 4!
As we look ahead to Summer Term 2, we know this is always the half term where we pack a lot in. From performances and assessments to Sports Day and major transitions, there are many exciting opportunities and important milestones ahead. Our aim is always to prepare the children as well as possible for these big moments and the changes that come with them.
If you have a child at home who is feeling nervous about any of these upcoming events, please do reach out. Speak to your child's class teacher, or come and chat to myself, Rhys or Rosie on the gates. We are always happy to listen and work together to support our brilliant young people as they prepare for everything that lies ahead.
Also a huge thank you to Davod who will be running a free running club for y2-y6 children starting on Friday morning - details below...
Thank you, as always, for your continued support, and here's hoping for a little more sunshine in the weeks to come!
Our Learning Week
Summer Fair - 27th June 2026!
Brookfield Growers
Ever wondered what happens to the plants after the Chelsea Flower show? Well, thanks to the charity Wayward and the hardworking kids and grownups of the Brookfield Growers group, loads of lovely leftover plants are going to be rehomed in our school allotment and playground! Just in time for last week's National Children's Gardening Week! If you want to get involved with the Brookfield Growers, just ask your class rep for details
Daily Mile Running Club
Next Friday, 12th June, We will be starting a new running club for our Year 2 - 6 children. This is a fantastic opportunity for the children to enjoy an additional daily mile in our Summer term.
The club will be held on Hampstead Heath, and we will meet by the running track at 8:00 am sharp and finish by 8:25am. Parent/Carers of Y2-4 children will need to stay at the running track and take your child to school once the daily mile has been completed.
If your Y5 or Y6 child is permitted to walk alone to and from the Heath, kindly drop me an email to confirm this. This club will only run on Friday morning's at the Heath with the last session taking place on Friday 10th July, there will not be a session on the last day of term Friday 17th.
