Simons Update
It's been another lovely week at Brookfield, with lots of wonderful learning, laughter and exciting things happening across the school. As always, it's been a pleasure to see the children enjoying their learning, supporting one another and making the most of everything Brookfield has to offer.
This week's update is a little bit of a call to arms! We have some exciting plans ahead, and we'd love our families and wider school community to be part of making them happen.
Parent Social Event – Thursday 22nd October, 7pm
Please join us on Thursday 22nd October at 7pm for a parent social and the Brookfield School Community AGM.
I'll be there to share some of our plans and ambitions for the coming year, particularly how we want to further enrich children's experiences at Brookfield. We'll be talking about our hopes for improving our school environment, creating even more opportunities for our children and making Brookfield an even better place to learn, play and grow.
We'd really love to see as many of you there as possible. Our school community is one of our greatest strengths, and your ideas, enthusiasm and support make such a difference.
Parent Governor Elections
The deadline for nominations for our first round of parent governor elections has now passed. Thank you to everyone who has put themselves forward!
We'll be sharing candidate profiles with families shortly, ahead of voting opening. Please do take the time to read these and have your say. Our parent governors play an important role in helping to shape the future of Brookfield.
Could You Spare a Little Time to Help?
We're also looking for some willing parent and carer volunteers to help us with a few things around school.
Whether it's supporting children's reading groups, lending a helping hand in the lunch hall or helping us to run a quiet library lunchtime for children who would enjoy a calmer space during the middle of the day, there are lots of ways to get involved.
We'll be sending a letter home soon with more information, so please keep an eye out and let us know if you might be able to offer some of your time. Even a little bit of help can make a big difference to the children's day.
Introducing the Brookfield LIFT Project!
This is something I'm particularly passionate about, and something I would really love our community to get behind.
For over a year now, we have been in discussions with Camden about the possibility of installing a passenger lift at Brookfield. Following a feasibility study, Camden has confirmed that it is unable to fund the project at its current estimated cost.
But we're not ready to take no for an answer!
We believe passionately that every child, regardless of their needs, should be able to access and fully participate in everything that makes the Brookfield experience so special. We have children within our community for whom improved access would make a real difference, and we want to do everything we can to make this happen.
That's why we're putting together a Brookfield LIFT project– a group of staff, parents, carers and members of our wider community who can help us explore fundraising, partnerships, creative solutions and ways to move this important project forward.
If you have experience, ideas, contacts or simply the enthusiasm to get involved, we would love to hear from you.
Please email Rosie at r.wedderburn@brookfield.camden.sch.uk if you'd like to join the LIFT Squad.
This is about more than installing a lift. It's about the kind of school we want Brookfield to be: a school where everyone belongs and everyone has the opportunity to take part.
Help Us Tell the Brookfield Story!
I appreciate that this week's update is turning into quite the call to arms, but there's a reason for that!
With school closures across Camden featuring in the news, it's more important than ever that we make sure people know who we are, what we stand for and just how much wonderful work happens at Brookfield every single day.
We know what makes our school special: our children, our staff, our families, our creativity, our inclusive ethos and the experiences we work so hard to provide. But we also need to make sure that families beyond our school gates get to see that too.
We're looking for someone who might be able to help us create short, engaging videos that capture the Brookfield experience – showing the brilliant things happening here and helping prospective families understand what makes our school such a special place.
If you work in film, media, marketing or content creation, or know someone who does and might be willing to lend us their skills, please get in touch with me at head@brookfield.camden.sch.uk.
We have so much to be proud of, and I want us to get better and better at sharing it with the world.
Finally...
I know I've asked for quite a lot this week! But I genuinely believe that the very best schools are built through strong partnerships between children, staff, families and the wider community.
We have big ambitions for Brookfield, and I'm determined that we continue to grow, improve and create the very best possible experiences for our children. We can't do everything overnight, but with a community like ours behind us, there is so much we can achieve.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support, encouragement and belief in our wonderful school.
Have a lovely weekend!
