Simon's Update
This week we celebrated Science Week in partnership with the Francis Crick Institute. Scientists visited school to work directly with our children, and many classes were also lucky enough to visit their fantastic learning spaces. The excitement and curiosity from the children was incredible to see - they were completely absorbed in the sessions and asked some brilliant, thoughtful questions. I was so impressed by how much knowledge they gained from working with real-life scientists and experiencing science in action.
We have also enjoyed our Stay and Play sessions at our wonderful Blossom Nursery. A huge thank you to the amazing Marcia, and the nursery team, who create such a warm and special atmosphere for our 2-3 year olds and their families. It is always a joy to see the youngest members of our community exploring, playing and settling so happily into school life.
I would also like to take this opportunity to say a very big thank you to our School Business Manager, Rosie Williams, who will be moving on in the summer term to a new school. Rosie has been a truly vital part of our school community, and we will miss her greatly. She has given an enormous amount of time, energy and expertise to Brookfield over the years - often travelling to and from school along the dreaded North Circular! We know she is looking forward to spending much less time on the A406, but we cannot thank her enough for everything she has done for our school.
Finally, if we whisper it - we had a little sunshine this week! After such a wet and soggy January, if feels like a small sign that spring might finally be on its way. We certainly hope so!
Wishing you all a lovely weekend

Brookfield School Community
Thank you to everyone who came along to our sold out Brookfield Movie Night on Friday 30th January. Special thanks to our lovely volunteers for making this wonderful community event possible. Buster Keaton's silent short film 'One Week' emerged as the clear winner with our audience!
We are excited to be running a Valentine's Day Bake Sale on Thursday 12th February at pick up.
Any homemade or store bought baked goods donation would be greatly appreciated, just remember no nuts please!
All donations can be dropped off at reception at any time (or bring them along at pick up time).
Thank you so much for your continued support - every contribution, big or small, really helps and is greatly appreciated.

Saving the Planet with Brookfield
Did you know food accounts for around 30% of global greenhouse gas emissions? So it's one of the easiest ways we can all make a difference AND get healthier. Here's some steps you can take now...
Step 1: Swap beef or lamb for chicken or pork. These meats produce far less methane and use 8-10 times less land per unit of protein. When it comes to seafood then mussels, sardines or herring have less impact than salmon, tuna, or prawns.
Step 2: Eat red meat less often. Eating beef or lamb just once a week slashes your food related footprint by half. Plus it's good for your heart!
Step 3: Add plant-based meals. Beans, lentils, chickpeas, and peas produce 36 times fewer emissions than meat.
Small changes to your plate can make a big difference, for the planet, your health and your wallet.
