Simon's Update
We’ve had an exciting week of assemblies at Brookfield!
Top of the list was a very special visit from Liz Pichon, author of the Tom Gates series, who wowed our children with her humour, creativity, and passion for reading and writing. Liz was truly inspiring — and she even left us a small mural on our library wall to remember her visit.
On Monday, our assemblies focused on mental health and wellbeing. We explored what helps us feel good in ourselves, and discussed our rights and responsibilities — not only to each other, but also to ourselves.
We also welcomed the return of singing assemblieswith our new music teacher, Joe, who has been a fantastic addition to the Brookfield team. Joe is teaching music across all year groups and has made a brilliant start to life here, filling classrooms withsinging, dancing, and drumming!
Finally, in our last assembly of the week, a few brave children took to the stage to tackle some maths and spelling challenges. A big well done to Boris, Eleni, Leo, Nico, Zacca, and Emily S for stepping up to the challenge and absolutely smashing it — earning the brand new, limited edition, one of a kind Headteacher’s Award stickers!
Also, very excitied to share that Sports Day has been booked for Tuesday, 1st July for all year groups

PE Update
David will be selecting the Year 5&6 girls and boys football teams over the next week. Fixtures will begin after the half term break, and we will write to parents with details of fixtures as soon as the teams are finalised, and fixtures have been sent to us. We really appreciate any parental support with travelling to fixtures.
Open Afternoon reminder
Next Thursday is our open afternoon from 1.30 - 7pm. You can make your booking on Scopay for a 10 minute appointment with the class teacher. All appointments will take place in the bottom hall, and you can enter the school from the infant entrance on Croftdown Road.
Don't forget that school will close at 1pm for children in Catkin through to Year 6. Blossom nursery will stay open as usual.
Please get in touch with us here, if you would like to have a meeting with your child's teacher, and require assistance with translation.

Saving the Planet with Brookfield
It's too early to be thinking about Christmas (isn't it? please?) but the birthday parties keep coming. Lucky that preloved gifts are popular - and cheaper. Check out the fabulous Toy Project on Junction Road, and this week's edition of Kate Burt's This is Rubbish newsletter recommends some great online shopping options. From a vintage children's typewriter to designer finds via peelable nail varnish kits... lots of great ideas and great bargains.
