Laurel’s update

This week marked the start of our Fantastic Arts at Brookfield Project with our new artist in residence working with children in Year 2. They explored the work of Gaudi with Ibrahim telling me “Today was really fun. We met an artist. Her name is Alix. We did a 2D picture of our house and then after we made it out of cardboard.” Year 2 also benefitted from a wonderful, sunny morning on Hampstead Heath with our Forest School Gardener, Rob, while Year 6 visited the Camden Archive Centre to develop their History skills.

This year, we have a focus on Physical Education, PE, and we are introducing the daily mile – initially to children in Key Stage 2. Congratulations to all the Year 6 children who ran or walked a mile this week and we look forward to other year groups getting involved soon.

Next week we have two Parent/Carer workshops: on Wednesday from 8.45am, Emma Jay, Chair of Governors, and I would like to invite you to a coffee morning where we will reflect on the year so far, look ahead and respond to questions and recommendations in the music room. On Thursday there is a maths workshop from 8.45am where parents and carers can learn about how we teach maths at Brookfield and practical ways you can help at home.

Thanks to the Brookfield School Community for arranging the Movie night this evening, watching Totoro, and I hope it is a great success!
