Laurel’s Update

This week has been a wonderful celebration of the end of our Autumn term. It has included:  a delicious Christmas Dinner, prepared by our wonderful Chef Stefan and his team, Years 1 and 2 seeing The Three Billy Goats Gruff at Jackson’s Lane Theatre, Nursery Festive Songs, Year 6 drumming sharing with Tanya and the choir singing at Holly Lodge.

Today we held a special assembly for our departing staff: Julia who has taught music for over 19 years at Brookfield, and Aniqa our EYFS LSA for the past eight years. We wish them all the best for their next chapters and thank them sincerely for their support of children, families and staff at Brookfield. I hope you enjoy the photos of these events below.

I will be thinking of all our Brookfield families this break and hope that those celebrating Christmas and New Year have joyous gatherings. We have lots to look forward to in the New Year: welcoming children and families who are moving into the Highgate Newtown Community Partner flats, having new children in our Blossom and Catkin Nursery classes and strengthening our partnership with the Royal Free Hospital Children’s School.

If any families are struggling with the cost of living crisis, please reach out for help. If parents cannot afford the essentials, or if you are worried about debt, mental health or anything else, help and support is available from Camden Council and their partners at or by calling on 020 7974 4444 (option 9).

The Camden Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) winter programme will run from 27 December 2023 to 5 January 2024 and is open for children and young people aged 5 to 16 who live in Camden and are eligible for free school meals. The programme offers free, fun activities and nutritional education – from learning to make healthy meals, to creative activities, including photography, drama, arts and crafts, and sports such as football and basketball. A free hot meal is included as part of each day’s activities.
