Brookfield’s Winter Fair is almost upon us, and everyone is welcome! It’s free to get in, free to play games and free tea/coffee/squash. It is a fantastic time for us all to get together, celebrate and have some fun whilst also raising some much-needed funds for the school.

Date / Time
Saturday December 2, 2023 – from 12 till 3
Entry via the Croftdown Road gate (INFANT playground)
We need you: how can you help?
Ask your class reps how you can help out on your year group’s stall – without all you wonderful volunteers there is no fair! We will also need people to help set up from 10am on the day and pack up at the end.
Other ways to help…
Have a clear out and donate any pre-loved toys and books for the toys and books stall. No baby or toddler stuff. No bric-a-brac.
Buy raffle tickets – on sale at the gates this week and at the fair. There are some fantastic prizes up for grabs!
Grab an empty jam jar and fill it with sweets, spare arts stuff (e.g. beads and buttons), little pre-loved toys – or jam even! And donate it to the jam jar stall.
Donate any preloved outgrown Christmas Jumpers or fancy dress. (Adult jumpers also welcomed) They will be for the FREE swap stall.
Bring something to donate to the Tombola. No alcohol please, this can be donated to the Raffle instead.
Calling all baking enthusiasts! We need cakes and biscuits for the tea/coffee/cake stall. (although shop bought donations very welcome too!) As always no nuts please.
Return of the Gingerbread Scene Competition! Get imaginative baking &/or decorating your gingerbread. We can’t wait to see your amazing creations! Prizes for the best entries.
Would you like to share your musical talents by performing on The Stage? (see below)
Donating Stuff
Toys, Books, Fancy Dress, Christmas Jumpers, Filled Jam Jars, Tombola & Raffle Prizes can be left at the Office. We would love your donations anytime from Monday 27th November.
Cakes & Bakes can be left at the office on Friday 1st Dec or directly to the stall on the day (earlier the better). No nuts please!
Gingerbread Scenes to be brought directly to the stall where they will be blind judged by Laurel and winners announced at the end of the Fair.
Inspired by the last year’s initiative of presents for the Ukrainian children and in support of open society practises applied at the school, this year we have partnered with the Refugee Education UK charity and would like to invite pupils of the Brookfield Primary School to bring some presents for the young refugee children settling down in the UK. The charity is in need for new stationery, pens and pencils, like-new books, games, puzzles and even soft toys for their new Welcoming Project room, where Mums can bring their small children to play while receiving the charity’s support. Please bring your presents to the school on the day or consider purchasing them at the Winter Fair and we will help children wrap them up at the dedicated stall.
Filled Jam Jars
Back by popular demand! We are asking all the Brookfield families if they are able to save an empty jam jar & fill it with something to sell at the fair. It can be anything such as small toys, craft stuff, different food, even… jam. Use your imagination! (Not nuts, though. We can’t do nuts.)
Tombola
Ideas for the Tombola: could be new toys, craft sets, food such as packets of sweets, biscuits, festive treats, new toiletries, etc. but please no nuts or alcohol. Please leave your donated items at the office anytime from Monday 28th. Thank you.

Gold Tokens
Gold tokens will be circulating at the fair this year, as one of the prizes for tombola or as a fun way for children to learn budgeting. Each one is equivalent to £1, can be bought from the raffle stall and can be used anywhere in the fair except the bar, but no change or refunds will be given. Pupil premium children will each be given 8 tokens ahead of the fair.
We have abandoned this plan in favour of something more simple and universal. All children will instead be given a free hot dog (these will be non-pork, halal frankfurters). Pupil Premium children will not have to pay for the grotto, in the usual way, and their parents will receive five free raffle tickets. As per recent years, there will also be free tea, coffee, squash and games for all. We hope this means everyone can come and enjoy the fair with their friends, free of financial barriers!
Grotto Details
As always Santa will be visiting the fair! We are keeping the pre booking system as it will reduce your queuing time.
The Grotto sign up sheet is here. Please be careful to NOT overwrite any other people’s entries.
