Laurel’s Update

This week, Brookfield was named ‘Super School’ at the Camden Eco Awards. This was in recognition of the creation of our wonderful Forest Garden and the work of our Eco-Committee. Congratulations to Kiana in year 6 who received high praise in the Mini-warrior category for her dedication to these projects. Our Mayor, Counsellor Nazma Rahman, was full of admiration when she officially opened our garden last Friday and at the award ceremony. Thanks to our brilliant children, staff and parents for all their efforts and to Rob, Forest School Gardener, for leading this inspirational work. Read all about it in this article where Brookfield is celebrated in the Camden New Journal.

All parents and carers have received a letter asking you to confirm permission for children to go on the rich selection of trips planned for every class this year. While the school and Brookfield Community(PTA) cover the costs for all children eligible for Pupil Premium, and subsidise  all the trips and workshops, we do ask families to make a voluntary contribution of £40/child. We are aware that some families will not be able to afford this as a lump sum, and others may be in a position to donate more, please speak to the office if you have any questions. Please click on this link to see the inspirational trips and workshops planned for the year starting with theatre trips to Jackson’s Lane for years 1 and 2 and the National Youth Theatre for years 3-6.

Congratulations to Carl Wilkinson for being appointed as a new Parent Governor. We had over 100 responses to the election and it was a close result. I will be working with our Chair of Governors, Emma Jay, to reflect on this and make sure that we are responding as a school and the governing body to the issues that are important to parents. Thanks to all the candidates and we look forward to finding ways to make the most of your experience and enthusiasm.
