All of the children that have been selected for the Camden School Sports Association Football league have been sent an email today. The selection process was made very difficult due to the high standard of trialists. Today we are sending your child home with a letter about our parent governor vacancy. Please read the letter, and get in touch if you have any questions. It is important that our governing body reflects our diverse and vibrant community. We encourage and welcome candidates from all backgrounds.

Long Hair
Please ensure that your child's hair is tied up each day, and that they have a hairband. This is to reduce the spread of Headlice, and help keep hair out of the way when learning and playing.
Having exhausted our extensive supply of hairbands in the office, we are now having to hand out elastic bands.
Halloween Stand
Join us on Halloween to take some spooky family pictures, play hair-rising games, get a hot magical drink, and raise money for our school!
Where: 51 Chester Road (near the pub The Star)

Results of the vote
We used to be called PTA, for Parent-Teacher Association. Some families raised that they aren’t parents, and not all staff are teachers. We had consultations and a vote, which finished on Monday. Thank you for contributing, the results are in!
We will now be referred to as “Brookfield School Community”, which won with 33% of the votes.
New email address
committee@brookfieldsch.org.uk
We have a new email address: now that it’s more of us, we need an address that is easier to share. But don’t worry, the old one still works!
Please don’t hesitate to send us suggestions, thoughts, offers to organise something, and feedback.

Movie night
Last week’s movie night was a big success, there was a lovely vibe and we are keen to do it again. We learned that:
- We can comfortably welcome more of us, so next time we will try offering 150 tickets. And to give everyone more chances to get in, and better target the movie, we’ll run them separately for KS1 and KS2 (Key Stage 1 and 2, infant and junior children).
- We raised enough money to make it worth it, through donations and the food stall, even though the event was free. That means we can offer free tickets again!
- Hot dogs worked super well. We might also ask for help with food next time, a bit like for a bake sale.
- The donation link did not work, so we’ll trial another set up next time.
What’s next?
Some exciting stuff after half-term, with of course the most awaited and much beloved WINTER FAIR! Watch this space for more details about the open afternoon bake sale and Diwali celebrations…

Brookfield families seeking housing
Two Brookfield parents are looking for a property to rent. Tetiana is looking for a 1 bedroom flat to rent not far from Brookfield. If you know of any properties, please let the office know and we can put you in touch
Brookfield's Climate Action Group met with Laurel and Rosie this half-term and agreed some priorities for the rest of the school year. These include:
1. Food waste - we want to reduce food waste, and make it easier to compost what we can. We’ll be working with Caterlink, Veolia and Brookfield's own Forest Garden to put in place sustainable systems, linked to the curriculum where possible. We are also speaking with FareShare about surplus fruit for break time snacks!.
2. Circular economy - this could include everything from block-printed Brookfield t-shirts and bags, a lunch time sewing and fixing club, a jumble sale and better ways of reuniting owners with lost property! If you have ideas or can contribute ideas or practical skills to any of these, please get in touch.
3. Energy use - we have applied to EnergySparks, a charity that works with schools to help monitor and reduce energy use. We are hoping to secure a funded place on the programme so watch this space!
Come join us! We are a group with kids at every stage of the school, who want to help Brookfield be a brilliantly sustainable community. We’d love you to be part of that. All parents/carers/members of the school community are welcome to join the Whatsapp group to stay informed on what we’re up to (and get involved only when/if you can): https://chat.whatsapp.com/F26lcDOKbmOLWbTSsoELg8
