Brookfield Anti-Racism week
This week, children from Year 1 all the way up to Year 6 are taking part in anti-racism lessons. Our goal is to educate our children about how we call use kindness and responsibility to be actively anti-racist in our communities.
The sessions have been going brilliantly so far and it is all thanks to the wonderful work of Summer, Christel and our anti-racism committee.
The resources we are using for these sessions are taken from the anti-racist curriculum and can be found here:

Learn how to Emotion Coach
Camden Mental Health Support Team (MHST) are excited to be offering a 2-part, face-to-face workshop for parents and carers of primary age children (4-11 years) on:
Monday 13th November 11:45 to 14:15 at the Tavistock Centre
AND
Monday 20th November 11:45 to 14:15 at the Tavistock Centre
The workshop will explore Emotion Coaching, a parenting approach that supports identifying and validating emotions, while also setting boundaries and limits around behaviour.
How will Emotion Coaching help you and your child?
• To better understand and validate your child’s emotions
• To respond more helpfully during moments of heightened emotion
• To implement appropriate boundary setting
• To reduce behaviours that you find challenging
• To further improve the parent/child relationship
• To learn from other parents and carers
This is an interactive workshop, which will involve sharing research, learning about Emotion Coaching and practising strategies. We often find that group workshops are a great space to learn from each other so there will be lots of opportunities to talk about ideas and to think through any challenges that might be around.
Please use the QR code below to sign up; this workshop is in two parts so you will need to be able to attend on both dates.

Hello from the Brookfield Climate Action Group section of the newsletter. It’s been a perplexing couple of weeks for the UK, with the u-turn on net zero targets. It feels to many like postponing what’s inevitable when there was hope for better management of the changes needed.
It can be overwhelming to face the reality of the climate crisis, and many find coming together with concerned others helps. You could join us here at the CAG, but if you feel you may benefit from more focused emotional support you could start with the Climate Psychology Alliance website.
They list climate aware mental health and wellness practitioners offering support, and also advertise affordable online ‘climate cafes’, sometimes known as ‘climate circles’ which can be booked through eventbrite.
These are facilitated group sessions for people to share some of the difficult feelings and fears the climate crisis can bring up. On occasion they also run session specifically for parents.
Additionally, the Islington Climate Centre run climate workshops and other events, and also have the following page sharing resources around climate anxiety as well as lots of other interesting events, activities and useful resources:
www.islingtonclimatecentre.co.uk/climate-anxiety
There are lots of positive things happening and many have found that addressing and processing anxiety (an ongoing, non-linear, perpetual challenge) brings them towards increased action around the climate crisis, in small and perhaps ever larger ways.
One fantastic organization Power Up North London, help deliver low-carbon energy solutions locally, through working to develop community-owned renewable energy solutions such as installation if solar PV, microgrids, batteries, LEDs and renewable heat solutions.
They also work closely with Camden and Islington councils to contribute to their climate emergency plans. They’re holding their next community meeting online, on Tuesday 3rd October at 7pm.
This is the zoom link but we also recommend visiting their website to find out more about them:
