Music News
Y1 families: In Year 1 we are doing a 'World Song Project'. We have been learning songs from around the world. Have you got a song that you could come and share with the class? (We have Music on Turesday mornings) If so, please email me: j.reid@brookfield.camden.sch.uk
Sayers Croft
There will be a parent meeting regarding Sayers Croft on Thursday 28th September at 3.45pm (apologies, the wrong date was put in our curriculum letter!). This will be a chance to ask questions and find out more information regarding timings, activities and what to bring.
We will also be circulating permission slips and further information next week, ahead of the meeting
We hope to see you there,
Year 6 team
After School Clubs
This half term we are introducing a range of new after school clubs (see poster below). You will be able to book your child into after school club as usual via Scopay
Your child will then sign up for a club of their choice when they arrive at after school club that day. For this half term only, we will be letting children trial different clubs. After half term, children will be expected to sign up and stay with the same club for the half term.
Pupil Premium families are entitled to 2 x free clubs (until 4.30pm). This is just one of the benefits of pupil premium. To check if you're eligible, sign up here

Meeting with Parents from Blossom Class
Laurel and Alex (RFHS Head) are looking forward to meeting Blossom parents on Monday at 9am to talk about the shared use of the building
Playground equipment
Please ensure that at the start and end of the day, your children do not climb on the playground equipment. In the mornings, it is important that they stay with you until their teacher arrives to greet them. For our younger children, please encourage them to line up sensibly and safely, ready to start a brilliant day of learning.
Home time arrangements
Another relative picking up your child? A family friend? Please remember to communicate any change of pick up arrangements to the office and class teachers. As per our policy, children will not be allowed to leave with anyone else unless this communication has taken place. Thank you for your understanding.
Free School meals
All children (Reception to Year 6) can now receive a free school meal, funded by the government. If your child is bringing in a packed lunch at the moment, and you would like to swap to a school dinner, please email Carole to let her know admin@brookfield.camden.sch.uk
You can check if you're eligible for additional funding, and apply here https://www.camden.gov.uk/free-school-meals
Please see the letter from the PTA to support this transition to free school meals for all PTA letter. If you are in a position to donate, you can set up a regular donation here
A huge thanks to everyone who came along or said hello at the open meetings this past week - it's been so lovely to meet and chat with lots of you and to hear all your ideas. We're very aware that everyone is busy (and that being accosted in a playground by people trying to get you involved in fundraising is possibly not everyone's idea of fun) BUT we're just massively grateful for all engagement.
And on that point: everyone had such great ideas for new events, inclusivity, how the PTA money should be spent, what the PTA should be called (watch this space) and more! Please don't feel that's the last chance. We want to hear ideas and thoughts whenever they strike you, so feel free to email brookfieldschoolpta@gmail.com at any point. Also, do say if you'd like to be kept more regularly updated and we can add you to the (honestly) very low maintenance / surprisingly peaceful wider WhatsApp group.
As for forthcoming plans and dates for your diary - we're collating all your thoughts (which included excellent ideas like... a Halloween disco / movie nights / pyjama days / an after-school snack shop) and will now start figuring out what can happen when. More soon!

Hello from Brookfield’s Climate Action Group (CAG.) It was lovely to see so much joy and so many beautiful block printed t-shirts made at the XR Camden stall at York Rise Street party on Sunday. Among the many brilliant climate friendly stalls and initiatives, was The Fix Factory who help “fix our relationship with disposable tech”. Located on Queen’s Crescent, Camden, they run weekly repair clubs, where “a talented and creative group of fixers will help you mend your stuff and teach you new skills.” They even run Laptop repair and maintenance training for 16-24 year olds. Find them at www.fixingfactory.org
This month is Oxfam’s ‘Second Hand September’. As Oxfam state on their website, the fashion industry is one of the worst offenders for greenhouse gas emissions and choosing second hand is a simple thing we can do to reduce demand for new clothing. If you’re making the shift, or just love second hand, last year, Nadia from the CAG set up Brookfield ‘Buy / Swap / Sell' WhatsApp groups. Click the links below to join.

In other news, the United Nations 2023 SDG Summit will take place on the 18-19th September in New York. Here they will discuss the 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development and its 17 laudable SDGs. The UN state that it “will mark the beginning of a new phase of accelerated progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals with high level political guidance on transformative and accelerated actions leading up to 2030.” Note they use the word accelerated twice, so here’s hoping (indeed.) In the meantime, to be kept up to date with CAGs projects - or to get involved if you can - email kate.taylor@gmail.com
