Coffee morning: 'How can I support my child to attend school?'
Is your child feeling anxious about attending school? Do they struggle to come in in the mornings? If so, we are hear to support. We will be re-running our coffee morning around the topic: emotional based school avoidance. This will take place on Friday 24th March, 9-9.30am in the bottom hall.
The coffee morning will be a chance to learn more strategies that can be used at home to support your child and to find out what support we offer as a school. All parents and carers are welcome- even if you would just like to learn more about this topic in general.
Police talk to Year 6 about safety
This afternoon two police officers came to visit year 6 to discuss how to keep safe walking on the streets and on public transport. They also discussed safety around mobile phones. They gave Year 6 tips on how avoid and handle difficult situations. It was a very interesting and educational afternoon, Year 6 had the opportunity to ask the police questions.

Big Battery Hunt
The Eco-Committee are keen for our community to recycle as much waste as possible. Therefore, Brookfield are taking part in the Big Battery Hunt again this year. We are encouraging all children to collect up old batteries and take them to your nearest battery recycling point. These are often found in supermarkets. If your child collects and recycles any batteries, please let Amy know how many have been recycled by emailing her: a.sprinks@brookfield.camden.sch.uk.
Our school total will contribute towards the national count; so far, over half a million batteries have been recycled and counted in 2023. Any amount of recycled batteries, however small, gives us an entry into a prize draw to win resources for the school. Any batteries counted before 23rd June 2023 will be part of our school’s entry into a prize draw. More information about the Big Battery Hunt, including activities to do at home, is available on their website: https://www.bigbatteryhunt.co.uk/

The Disco is Thursday 30th March, in the Main Hall/Infant Playground.
Timing: Infants (Nursery-Y2): 4.30-6pm / Juniors (Y3-6): 6-8pm (f you have children in both age groups, you can attend both sessions but please be mindful of the hall capacity; we may ask you to make use of the playground if the hall is full during the other session). Homes for Ukraine scheme
A Brookfield child and her mother are in the UK under the Government Sponsored Homes for Ukraine Scheme. Their one year arrangement with their current hosts comes to an end in Summer 2023 and they are looking for new hosts under the Government Scheme, which is continuing, or suitable accommodation within reasonable distance of school. If you think you could help, or know someone who might be able to, please contact Faye who can then pass on your details: f.winslade@brookfield.camden.sch.uk. If you would like to speak with the current hosts, they would be happy to do so.
Could you Help Save the Planet by Becoming a Host Family?
Your planet needs you! This April 21-24, thousands of people will gather peacefully at the Houses of Parliament for The Big One. It's a family-friendly event to call for an end to the fossil fuel era and for a fairer society. Could you support the protest by offering a place to stay? The Big One will be guided and supported by Extinction Rebellion (XR), Just Stop Oil, Trade Unions and others. You can find out more at extinctionrebellion.uk
I'm Kate, with kids in Ivy and Poppy. Our family has hosted several times and found it really straightforward, safe and rewarding. I'm really happy to talk about how it works if anyone has questions - do email me on kate.taylor@gmail.com
People will be coming from all over the country (and beyond). They'll be so grateful if you could give your spare room, sitting room floor, garden or driveway to guests or campers so that children, young people and adults can stay in London. Host families will be supported by a team of organisers and home visitors.
For more information about hosting and to sign up, please email the organiser on littlecornishdeli@yahoo.co.uk

Early Help is a brilliant service available to Camden residents with children aged 0-19. They offer practical and emotional support with a range of life issues.
What can they help with?
Every family they work with is unique. They work with families experiencing relationship breakdown or conflict, violence in the home, children showing distressed behaviour, support for first time parents, housing, rent or money worries, difficulties at school, worries about a child’s health or development, managing changes in circumstances, grief and bereavement, and mental health problems. Often it’s a combination of many things. But whatever it is that you and your family want to change, we are here to work with you - to help you and your family get to where you want to be.
