Laurel’s Update

Brookfield’s Anti-Racism Committee

You may or may not be aware that we have an Anti-Racism Committee comprising parents, staff members and an independent teaching consultant, who meet every half term to ensure that any complaints or incidents in relation to potential racist language or behaviours in the school are prioritised with compassion, professionalism and diligence.

The Committee also supports the school in their objectives of creating a more diverse staff and curriculum, maximising teaching opportunities around kindness, acceptance of difference and inclusion, and improving our family and community outreach programme, so that all of our families feel a sense of inclusion and belonging to Brookfield.

If you would like to find out more about the Anti-Racism Committee, perhaps with a view to joining it, we would be delighted to hear from you. Please contact Rosie in the office team.

Community events

Sincere thanks to Rob and the PTA for organising a well-attended quiz yesterday evening. This was Rob’s fifth and final appearance as quiz master extraordinaire and he hopes his legacy will continue as he passes on the baton.

We are looking forward to our next Community Day on Saturday 25th March when we will welcome Brookfield friends and families to volunteer at school from 10am and then enjoy a bring and share lunch together. Rob, our Forest School Gardener, and Derek, Site Service Officer, are planning a range of activities for children and adults to help with to improve our indoor and outdoor learning environments. It is helpful for us to have a sense of numbers so please email admin@brookfield.camden.sch.uk if you are planning to come.

Strike days

Please read this letter about our school closure next Wednesday and Thursday as a result of the National Education Union strikes. Packed lunches are available for all children eligible for Free School Meals and can be booked here.
