Camden Maths Challenge
This Wednesday, 4 of our Year 6 children went down to a local primary school, Eleanor Palmer, to compete in the Camden Primary Maths Challenge. They took part in a number of different problem solving tasks which tested their team work and reasoning skills. They had a fantastic time and came an impressive 5th place. Well done to Hector, Moheez, Haylee and Marianne - we are very proud!
Year 5 Cook Off
To support Year 5 celebrating Greek culture they had a cook off. They made some olive oil cookies. They had lots of fun and the olive oil cookies came out amazing. See photo's below
Year 1 Drumming Performance
Year 1 hosted a drumming performance this week to show their parents what they've learnt. They have been practising since the beginning of the half term. They really enjoyed drumming and it was a joy watching them play. Well done Year 1! See photo's below
FAB Dance
Both Year 3 and 4 performed this week, they showed their parents all their latest dance moves and even had their parents join in and participate. See photo's below
Punctuality and Attendance
Thank you so much to all everyone for your support with improving our attendance and punctuality at Brookfield. Our whole school percentage this week was 94.8%- our target is 95%!
Today we also revealed the winners for the best attendance half term. We gave an extra point to Bramble class for achieving a brilliant 99.6% this week and for the most improved attendance this half term. We are pleased to announce that the overall winners for attendance this half term in the following classes are:

Children's Mental Health Week

Eco-Committee Poster Competition
Brookfield’s Eco-Committee are encouraging the whole school to recycle their waste and stop littering around the school. They are asking children to design a clear, informative poster that communicates this message. Any completed posters should be given to the class’s Eco-Committee members by the end of February. The most effective poster will win a plant for their classroom.
The Little Angel Theatre
The Little Angel Theatre are coming in on Wednesday 22nd Feb to perform a show for Catkin and Blossom children. We are hoping they are going to love it!

Early Years Parent Workshops
Many thanks to the parents and carers who have completed the survey regarding early years workshops. In light of the responses we have received so far, the first parent workshop will be on toilet training and will take place on Friday 24th February at 1pm. The workshop will be delivered in Blossom Class at our Konstam site and a crèche, run by our nursery staff, will be available. If you have not yet responded to the survey and would like to do so, please find the link below. We plan to run another workshop at the end of next half-term and more in the summer term. Your responses will help us to target our workshops to the areas that you are interested in.

Year 6 Camping Trip
A group of year 6 parents are organising a camping trip for the summer term – and they would love as many Oak and Elm families to come along as possible. It will be on the 23rd, 24th and 25th June at Sparrows Campsite in Essex. It’s £20 per adult per night and children are free. If you don’t have a tent you can borrow one. If you’re interested in coming along please message Rachel on 07890 323 467 and she can book you in. It should be a brilliant weekend, full of activities and fun for the children and the adults!

Applications for our 3 year old Nursery Catkin class
Children born between 1st September 2019 and 31st August 2020 can apply for a place in our Catkin nursery. We welcome applications by the deadline of Friday 24th February 2023

World Book Day
World Book Day is coming up soon! It will be rescheduled to Friday 3rd March due to the strike. As part of the celebrations, we want to help encourage a lifelong love of reading as well as raise some funds to buy the School some fantastic new books.
We will be running a Sponsored Reading Challenge over half term and the week after - from Saturday 11th to Sunday 26th of February. Depending on their reading level you, your family & friends can choose to sponsor your child for time spent reading, being read to or just a set amount. There will be prizes awarded for the most time, so don’t forget to add it up!
Sponsorship forms should have been handed out to your child, but if it has gone astray you can download one here.
We love to be green & help the environment at Brookfield so on Friday 24th February Nursery and Reception will help us hold a World Book Day Costume Swap and Bake Sale after school in the Infant Playground.
We would love it if you could bring along any cakes or bakes (no nuts please) or any old dressing up. (The costumes are free even if you have nothing to swap.)
Dressing up donations can be left at the office anytime after half term, cakes & bakes can be left with the office anytime on Friday 24th or both can just brought along on the day.
Half term is a perfect time to have a rummage for any unwanted or outgrown dressing up or to curl up with a good book or two or more!
Playground Breakfast
Friday 3rd March - We are holding a World Book Day Community Breakfast event from 8.15am in the Infant Playground, followed by a PTA chat in the Lower Hall.
Come a little earlier to drop off, hang out with fellow parents while the kids have a play. Just a chance to chat, make some new friends or connect with old ones with free tea, coffee, hot chocolate and a bite to eat!
Then join us in the Lower Hall for a conversation about the upcoming PTA events. We are looking for any help and ideas for the Disco and Auction. We are also looking for a few helpers for the upcoming quiz night.
