Winter Fair: all you need to know

Brookfield’s Winter Fair is almost upon us, and everyone is welcome! It’s free to get in, free to play games and free tea/coffee/squash. It is a fantastic time for us all to get together, celebrate and have some fun whilst also raising some much-needed funds for the school.

Date / Time

Saturday December 3, 2022 – from 12 till 3

Entry via the Croftdown Road gate (INFANT playground)

We need you: how can you help?

THE SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU CAN DO: Come early on Saturday to help set up – anytime from 10am at the Croftdown Rd gate. Helpers to set up on Friday 2nd from 3.30 – 6pm also very much appreciated.
Stay behind after 3pm to help tidy up. Please!

Get baking! We will need cakes and international bakes on the day for Yr2’s tea/coffee/cake stall. As always no nuts please. Cakes & Bakes can be brought along to set up on Friday (remember Friday is an Inset day!) or directly to the stall on the day (earlier the better).

Have a sort out and donate any pre-loved toys and books for YrR/N’s toys and books stall. No baby or toddler stuff. No bric-a-brac.

Fill a Jam Jar, decorate & donate to sell at Yr4’s stall.

Donate any preloved outgrown Christmas Jumpers or fancy dress. (Adult jumpers also welcomed) They will be for the YrR/N free swap stall.

Bring something to donate to the Yr2’s Tombola. No alcohol please, this can be donated to the Raffle instead.

Share the Xmas spirit, pop an extra into your shop & donate new stationery & craft presents to the Yr2 stall for Children in Ukraine.

Buy raffle tickets – on sale at the gates this week and at the fair. We would love some more donations for the Yr3 Raffle too!

Would you like to share your musical talents by performing on The Stage? Contact Yr6 (below)

Return of the Gingerbread Scene Competition! Get imaginative baking &/or decorating your gingerbread. We can’t wait to see your amazing creations! Prizes for the best entries.

Ask your class reps how you can help out on your year group’s stall.

Finally come along & enjoy the day!

Donating Stuff

Toys, Books, Fancy Dress, Christmas Jumpers, Filled Jam Jars, Tombola & Raffle Prizes can be left at the Office. We would love your donations anytime from Monday next week (28th)

Cakes & Bakes can be brought along to set up on Friday (remember it’s an Inset day!)
or directly to the stall on the day (earlier the better).

Donations for Ukrainian Children to be brought directly to the stall on the day, where your child can write a gift label and wrap them if you have not already done so.

Gingerbread Scenes to be brought directly to the stall where they will be blind judged by Laurel and winners announced at the end of the Fair.

Filled Jam Jars

There will be a new stall this fair that fits with the environmental ethos of the school. We are asking all the Brookfield families if they are able to save an empty jam jar & fill it with something to sell at the fair. It can be anything such as small toys, craft stuff, different food, even… jam. Use your imagination! (Not nuts, though. We can’t do nuts.)

Tombola

Ideas for the Tombola: could be new toys, craft sets, food such as packets of sweets, biscuits, festive treats, new toiletries, etc. but please no nuts or alcohol. Please leave your donated items at the office anytime from Monday 28th. Thank you.

Raffle

In previous years some parents have been kind enough to donate their time/services as raffle prizes (pilate classes etc). If anyone has anything they can offer as a raffle prize for the winter fair this year, please drop an email to:
Jones.Leigh.G@gmail.com
Thanks!

Gifts for Ukrainian Children

In the spirit of giving we are collecting donations of new arts supplies as presents for the children in Ukraine, either wrapped or unwrapped (things like markers, crayons, colouring books, notepads). Children can write a gift tag.

We will also have a few wrapped markers that people can buy & donate on the day. This way children who haven’t brought anything have the chance to contribute and write their gift tag.

The Stage – Brookfield’s Got Talent!

  • The Infant Choir will be performing at 1pm
  • The Junior Choir will be performing at 1.30pm

Now that the pandemic is loosening its grip on the Brookfield social calendar and we finally get to do a full-blown Winter Fair, we would love to have some music on stage to cheer in the festive season.

So, are you the next Mariah Carey, or a very cool Brookfield Parent or student with musical talent, festive spirit and the urge to perform and help the school? Please email Eiril at eirilvenskar@gmail.com.

Parents! It could be a parent’s band, a duet, some lovely piano or even volunteering to do some DJ-ing or playlists. We know you have talents; we need you!

Kids – We have a few timeslots for show casing your festive musical acts, so if you’d like to perform, we will do our best to get you up on stage and into that spotlight!

Grotto Details

As always Santa will be visiting the fair! We are keeping the pre booking system as it will reduce your queuing time.

The Grotto sign up sheet is here. Please be careful to NOT overwrite any other people’s entries.

  • Maximum 3 per slot
  • Price: £5 per child, or £8 for two, £11 for three. Pupil premium free.
