Laurel’s Update
Happy half term to all our Brookfield children and families! The children have made excellent starts to this academic year and looked wonderful in their Halloween dressing up costumes today. Highlights of this week also included: year 2 West African drumming performances, year 1 poetry sharing, year 2 PAC Maths workshop with parents and trips to the Hampstead Heath Secret Garden for year 2 and Shaolin Temple for year 5.
Please read this important trips letter and click on the relevant links to give permission for your child(ren) to attend trips for the rest of this year and to make a donation towards these.
Please check all the dates that have already been shared for next half term. These now include two community events hosted by me and Jo (Chair of Governors) on Tuesday 8th November at 9am and 6.30pm. These will be an opportunity for us to come together as community, to reflect on our achievements, priorities and for parents to share their ideas and thoughts about the school. While the talk will be aimed at grown-ups – children are welcome too and we will have refreshments provided by our brilliant Parent Teacher Association (PTA).
Another important date is Thursday 8th December when Brookfield children from years 1 – 6 will be performing in two Brookfield carol concerts at St Mark Brookfield Church, Dartmouth Park. Parents and carers will be invited to come and hear the children sing festive songs and present readings and poetry in an inspiring setting.
Please click on the ‘From the office’ tab below to book up After School Clubs from 31st October. We look forward to welcoming children from Reception classes to both Breakfast and After School Clubs after the half term break.
Wishing you all wonderful half term breaks and I’m already looking forward to seeing you on Monday 31st October.
Specialist Skills and Knowledge
This year, we are keen to establish more connections with our wider community and utilise all the wonderful skills and knowledge our Brookfield parents/carers have. This could include coming in to talk about a religious festival, leading a lesson on how to cook a certain food or playing an instrument in assembly. We want our children to see the role models we have within our community, and know that you have a lot to offer! If you are not confident to lead a session or share with the children, our teachers are always looking to upskill themselves and would be keen to collaborate with parents/carers to support their planning and make our evolving curriculum relevant. If you have a skill, experience or knowledge that you would like to share in some way with Brookfield, please fill out the following form:

Parent Governor Election - step up!
Hi everyone, as Zia has resigned and Frank is coming to the end of his term we now have two vacancies for parent governors. After half term there will be more information and a chance for people to put themselves forward. If we have more than two candidates we will then hold an election. If you’re interested and keen to know more then please do get in touch with Jo Cooke our chair of governors who can talk to you about the role and what is involved.
