Meet the Parents
We are looking forward to welcoming prospective new parents to Brookfield on Wednesday 19th October at our Meet the Parents event from 5.30 – 6.30pm. It is an opportunity for prospective parents and families to visit the school and ‘meet the parents’ and students who already attend Brookfield. It’s a great way for them to get honest and up to date information about the school, and ask questions to children and parents directly.
We are also looking for some panellists to join us on Wednesday from 5.15pm – 6.30pm latest. If you have children at Brookfield, and would be willing to come and sit on the panel to answer some questions, we would love to hear from you. If you have a child who would also be willing to share their experiences, and answer any questions, then we would also like to hear from you. Please contact Rosie r.williams@brookfield.camden.sch.uk
If you know of any parents with nursery age children, who are thinking about primary school, then please forward the attached leaflet onto them
Eco-Committee
Last year, Brookfield’s first eco-committee worked hard to improve our school grounds, save energy and encourage the school community to recycle more of their waste. Their hard work was recognised by the Eco-Schools programme and we were awarded a Green Flag! The eco-committee also got to visit the Superbloom at the Tower of London and our Year 6 committee members were even featured on Radio 4. If your child would like to join this year’s eco-committee and help shape Brookfield’s approach to sustainability and climate change, they need to complete the attached application form (also available from their class teacher) and return it to Amy (Dandelion class teacher) by Friday 4th November. The final eco-committee will be made up of two children from each Year 1-6 class and will meet fortnightly within the school day.
Waste on Croftdown/Chester Roads
Thank you for bringing to our attention the problem of waste, including dog mess, on Croftdown Road and Chester Road. While we understand that this is frustrating, unsightly and unhygienic, we recommend that you contact Camden Council directly, rather than the school. The local councillor for this area is Councillor Camron Aref-Adib and he holds a monthly surgery at Highgate Library.

Lallibella Year 6 Trip
This week both year 6 classes had the pleasure of visiting our local Ethiopian restaurant: Lalibella. This trip was linked to the current class novel 'The Garbage King' which is set in Ethiopia. The class loved trying traditional injera and a variety of other dishes.
Thank you so much to the restaurant for making us feel so welcome and we would highly recommend paying them a visit if you haven't been before: https://www.lalibelarestaurant.co.uk/
Attendance and Punctuality
This week our total attendance for children in reception to year 6 was 95.72% which is close to our target of 96%!
Our percentage for children persistently absent from school is still higher than we would like: 15.98%. This means that this was the amount of children currently under 90%. It is always higher at the beginning of term and we do hope to see this decrease dramatically by Christmas.
If you require any support with improving attendance or punctuality, please see your child's class teacher, phase leader, Faye (attendance lead) or Carole in the office.
Below, is the attendance breakdown for classes this week. Well done to Poppy whose attendance is 98.8%!

Lost Property
With such a high volume of lost property this term we will be put out all lost property next week Wednesday in the Junior playground. Property that is labelled with the child's name is much easier to reunite with it's owner. Items that are not claimed will be given to charity.
Reporting child illnesses
When reporting that your child is sick please be specific e.g vomiting, headache, high temperature etc. It will help us to keep track of any illnesses circulating around the school.
Flu Immunisations
- Please see the attached letter regarding Flu immunisations which take place on Monday 17th October.
- Within the letter there is an online consent form. Children will only receive the immunisation if you have completed the form.
- The immunisation is in the form of a nasal spray
