Update from Laurel
The highlight of my week has been hearing about the successful trips the children have engaged in this week. These have included: year 2 learning about computing at the Camden Learning Centre, year 3 visiting the British Museum, year 4 seeing the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment perform and a group of year 5 children presenting at the Camden Science Challenge and coming in the top three! I was particularly pleased that the year 3 sessions at Parliament Hill Lido started so well. Please check the dates above, and letters from class teachers, as we look forward to all our junior children visiting the Lido at least once this summer term.
I look forward to our first Friends of Brookfield Community Day tomorrow 10am-3pm. We will be planting, varnishing, fixing and working together to make Brookfield beautiful. Thanks in advance to those who can attend!
With Father’s Day being celebrated on Sunday, please can I thank all the wonderful Dads, carers and Grandfathers of Brookfield children and hope you feel appreciated this weekend.

SEND at Brookfield
Dear Parents and Carers,
I am writing to invite you to take part in our Special Educational Needs (SEND) parent survey so that we can understand what is working well for SEND support at Brookfield and how we can make improvements moving forward. Your responses would be greatly appreciated in order to get the best understanding of how the SEND community of Brookfield feels about provision in the school.
We will analyse the results before the end of July and then share with the Brookfield SEND community what is working well and where we can improve in September.
To complete the survey please click here.
Please let me know if I can support you in any way or if you have any questions.
Many thanks,
Laura Smale

Plant Sale Success!

A huge thank you to everyone who came and bought a plant or made a donation at reception’s plant sale yesterday and to Homebase in Finchley Road for contributing such a lovely selection of plants. Your generosity helped us to raise just over £350 and we will be putting in an order for 6 balance bikes on Monday – express delivery! We hope to have the reception children riding them around the playground as soon as the end of next week. There were a few plants left over which Year 6 have kindly agreed to let us sell at their Suitcase Sale on Friday 27th, so there’s still a chance to pick up a sunflower seedling to nurture or a courgette plant to tend to if you missed out yesterday.
Maths day – Friday 24th June
On Friday 24th June, Brookfield will be holding a ‘Maths Day’. This will be a chance to celebrate all things maths and to demonstrate what a diverse and fun subject it is! The day will consist of a variety of maths based activities including; creating maths art work, taking part in STEM challenges, a Times Tables Rockstars competition and other problem solving fun. At the end of the day, the children’s maths art will be displayed on the playground in an Art Gallery and we welcome all parents to come and see.
To make this day extra special, we encourage children to dress up in ‘maths themed’ clothing. This could be a patterned outfit, an outfit linked to their favourite number or even as a Times Tables Rockstar!
Year 4 Fun in the Sun

Even though Year 4 missed out on there trip to Camden Learning Centre, due to staff absence at the centre, they did get to have fun in the sun today!

York Rise Nursery Closing
Did your child go to York Rise Nursery?
As you may know, York Rise Nursery is closing this Summer. The current parents are putting some gifts together, including a book with photos, pictures and messages.
Becca, who runs the Nursery had done so for 30 years so we want to reach out to alumni families so that they can add their own messages/pictures to the book for her. Please email messages and pictures to Anna annaglowacka@hotmail.com
Queen Elizabeth
In celebration of the Queens Jubilee every child will be given a book. We will be handing them out next week. Look out for them!
