Laurel’s Update
A huge congratulations to our year 6 children who have completed English and Maths assessments this week. They have demonstrated such effort, determination and achievement. The wellness breakfast was well attended and supported the children in their emotional well-being. Thanks to parents and staff for helping them navigate the week successfully and we hope the children have enjoyed their well earned day off today!
We have been planning how we will celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee as a school and have decided to have a ‘Jubilee Day’ on Friday 27th May. Children are invited to dress in red, white and blue, something regal or anything they choose! We will have themed activities, a special lunch and a playground street party in the afternoon. The day will end with a PTA bake sale and Year 6 crafts in the playgrounds.
Another date for your diary is our first ‘Friends of Brookfield Community Day’ on Saturday 25th June, 10-3pm. We invite parents, friends and children to help improve our indoor and outdoor learning environments through gardening, painting, varnishing and cleaning! While we will be working hard, we do hope to celebrate our achievements and reward all volunteers with refreshments at 2pm!
PTA News
We have worked out the final total raised at the Ukraine Disco. An amazing effort, in the end we raised
£4,135.83
which has gone to War Child, a charity that provides on-the-ground support to children in war zones. You can read more about their brilliant work here:
We also raised
£1,327.92
at the Ukraine Bake Sale, which we are donating to UNICEF towards their work in Ukraine.
A total of nearly £5,500 for Ukraine is an amazing amount – well done everyone and thank you for baking, BBQ-ing, preparing, setting up and clearing away, and for dancing, eating and joining in.
