Laurel’s Update

What a pleasure it has been to welcome our wonderful Brookfield children back to school after the summer break. Having visited them all in class, they have made a great start.

I am really excited and optimistic about the year ahead. This year we are focusing as a school on the following areas:

  • Oracy, the teaching and learning of speaking and listening
  • The new Brookfield Curriculum with the themes of sustainability, innovation, equality, journeys, communication and home
  • Emotional literacy and leadership
  • Transforming the learning environment

Next week, we open our new 2 year old nursery, Blossom class, at the Konstam building. This is a brilliant opportunity to extend our early years provision and get to know children and families earlier. If you are interested in your child attending, please contact our Deputy Head, Stephanie on 020 7272 9627 or email s.clarke@brookfield.camden.sch.uk

Covid-19 update

The government guidance has now changed if you or your child tests positive for COVID 19. Please tell us if you are awaiting test results and we can provide support if there is a case. We have learning packs available and have other resources if you, or someone in your family needs to isolate.

We have found that many of the safety measures that we currently have in place to protect against infection, are working well and supporting the children in a range of ways. We therefore intend to maintain most of our current risk assessment for the first few weeks of term. It has been a pleasure to welcome parents back into the playgrounds at the start and end of each day. Parents and carers are invited to wear masks and follow direction from staff on the gates to where your child will be dropped off and collected.

Drop off and collection times remain the same:

8.45am and 3.15pm: Years 2 and 6

8.50am and 3.20pm: Years 1 and 5

8.55am and 3.25pm: Reception and Year 4

9.00am and 3.30pm: Year 3

Nursery Catkin class will use their Croftdown Road gates at 9am and 3.30pm

Nursery Blossom class will use their Chester Road gate at 8.45am and 3.45pm (for children attending full time) (8.45am – 1.00pm Friday)

Year group curriculum meetings

Teachers will be presenting to parents and carers at year group curriculum meetings on the week beginning 13th September. This is an opportunity for you to hear about the teaching and learning experiences your child will enjoy over the year, and how you can support at home. We encourage all parents and carers to attend. The meetings will take place from 10-10.30am on Zoom (links to follow in your curriculum newsletters next week) and recordings will be made available and shared on the website

Tuesday year 4

Wednesday year 5
