Update from Laurel
We are now half way through the first Spring half term, which for most Brookfield children and families has been spent learning at home. I hope that, despite the challenges of balancing parenting, teaching, work and other responsibilities, families are finding daily moments of joy and congratulating yourselves on what you have achieved. It has been so encouraging to look at the work returned by children and see how they have been making progress.
We have now added live PE lessons and assemblies to the weekly offer: please look in your child’s Google Classroom for details of these extra sessions.
Here is our latest Home Learning Guidance. Please take the time to read this:
Next Thursday 28th January is our home learning collection and distribution day. Please see the following times to come to school to drop off completed work and collect the home learning packs for the next two weeks. Collect from the Junior playground on Chester Road.
The home learning packs include timetables and worksheets for the next two weeks. It would be really helpful if families could arrange with each other to collect for a group – for example, if you live on the same road as other families and can coordinate collection and doorstep delivery. This will minimise the number of people visiting the school site. To collect for children in different school years, please come at the later time slot.

Masks
The school has received complaints that some parents and carers who are dropping off and picking up at school are not wearing masks and congregating to chat near the school. Please can all parents wear masks (or a badge if they are unable to wear a face covering), and maintain social distancing.
Parent workshops in the Spring term
Thanks to parents and carers for attending the behaviour workshop on Thursday morning. If you weren’t able to attend, please find the slides below:
Next Thursday at 11am, parents and carers from across the school are invited to join Laura (SENDCo) for a workshop about how we support special educational needs and disabilities at Brookfield. Free School Meals
Parents of children eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) who are at home should have received their first supermarket vouchers this week. You will receive £15 per eligible child per week. These vouchers come from a company called Edenred. If you haven’t received yours, please check your spam/junk mail as it may have gone there.
Sainsbury’s vouchers have arrived at school to retrospectively cover the first two weeks of term and eligible families can expect an email early next week about how to collect these.
If you believe your child may be eligible for Free School Meals, please go to the Camden website (this is the case even if you live in a different borough) on the following link: https://www.camden.gov.uk/free-school-meals
Access to technology
If your child is unable to fully complete their remote learning you may be eligible for government internet support.
Please tell contact the school if you:
- do not have internet access at home
- are relying on your phone and are running out of data
- have multiple people (children or adults working from home) sharing devices
Congratulations to Gemma!
Gemma’s daughter arrived on Tuesday morning weighing 7lbz 2oz. Congratulations to Gemma, Theo and big brother Eben!
