Laurel’s update
Thank you to all parents and carers who have engaged in phone calls with teachers this week. I am sure these conversations have been beneficial and thank you for your flexibility while we are unable to have face-to-face meetings. If you were unable to speak to your child’s class teacher this week – please email (in the format yearX@brookfield.camden.sch.uk ) to arrange another time.
We have lots of fun activities for children to look forward to over the coming weeks, starting with performance for our KS2 children on Monday from the Little Angel Theatre. Thanks to the PTA for thinking creatively about how the Brookfield community can unite. Read on for information about Christmas meals and carol singing!
Yours, Laurel
Little Angel Puppet Show
On Monday, The Little Angel Puppet Theatre are coming into school for a socially distanced performance of ‘Reach for the Stars’ for KS2. It will be performed separately for each year group bubble. The children will rocket into space with Nat as she overcomes her fears and strives to achieve her greatest ambition – to fly. The show is told through dazzling puppetry and inspired by the life of Mae Jemison, the first African American woman to go into space.
We are asking for a £2 donation per child and, as always, are incredibly grateful to those of you who choose to make larger donations as this helps cover the cost for families less able to donate. Children eligible for the Pupil Premium are not expected to pay.
Carol Singing – Monday 7th December
Every class has been learning a Festive Song which they will be singing to the rest of the school on Monday 7th December (weather permitting!). Each year group will sing their festive song in the three playgrounds as the rest of the school listen inside the building. Children have the option to come into school wearing colourful clothes, eg Christmas jumpers, hats etc. We hope that it will be a really enjoyable day for all the school and that neighbours and passers by enjoy the singing!
Christmas dinner 2020
Christmas dinner this year will be on Wednesday 9th December. For those on packed lunches who wish to have a school dinner on this day please contact the office by Friday 4th December 2020 to book your dinner. The cost is £2.40, payable via ScoPay as usual.

Running 10k for charity: Vesper and Lois

Vesper and Lois in Year 4 have taken it upon themselves to train for and run a full 10k before Christmas to raise money for Crisis and for the mental health charity SANE.
So far they have raised a staggering £1,470! A lot of this has been raised via the school community within WhatsApp groups and social media posts, we are amazed at people’s generosity and also their enthusiasm. Thank you so much to all who have donated, and best of luck to the runners who are an inspiration – 10k is a proper distance for any adult, let alone two 8-year-olds.
If you want to donate, the JustGiving link is here.
