This week, the year 6 children have been rehearsing for their leavers’ assembly and it has been wonderful to hear their voices floating around the school in preparation for filming and screening. We have received the wonderful news that all children will be returning to Brookfield in September. There will be some additional measures to keep everyone safe and we will share key information with you before the end of term.
While we have been frustrated that the government guidance has meant we have been unable to have all children back in school, the timetable for the satellite bubble classes has expanded each week and given children an opportunity to learn and socialise together. From Tuesday, in addition to PE, picnics in Waterlow Park, woodwork and farm visits, we add art lessons with Olly for years 2, 3 and 4 and Forest School with Paula and Pete for year 5. Please see the emailed letter with more information. To enable children and parents to say goodbye to current staff and meet new teachers, support staff will be visiting PE lessons next week and teachers the week commencing 13th July.
Families may have heard about extra support for children to catch up on missed learning. Funding and provision will be available from September. We are fortunate to have such a strong and experienced teaching team; their commitment will make all the difference to children making accelerated progress in the Autumn term.
Phase Leadership
At Brookfield, each member of the leadership team is responsible for a group of classes or ‘phase’. This enables senior leaders to support the well-being of children, parents and staff and develop teaching and learning within their phase. This model was particularly effective when school closed to most children and the need to rapidly create a virtual school. As teachers are with their classes for most of the school day, it may be easier for you to get in touch with your child’s phase leader if you have a matter to discuss. Please contact the school office (020 7272 9627) or email:
