School News –
Thank you to all the Y2 parents and carers who were able to attend PAC maths on Monday – as I led a prospective parent tour I was proud to show case Brookfield’s strong parental engagement! This week, Bluebell and Daisy classes have enjoyed trips to the Camden Learning Centre. We look forward to Monday’s storytelling assembly and workshops as part of our Black History Month celebrations. It would be great to see you at the two sessions I am running next week for parents. These will include an update on our school’s progress and priorities and a interactive vision and values activity.
Parent Governor Elections
Congratulations to Emma Jay (Mum of Albi and Juno in Y2) and Fentezia Teshome (Mum of Hewan in Y3 and Saron in Nursery) who are our new parent governors.
Rights Respecting Schools Parent & Governor
As part of our commitment to being a Silver Rights Respecting School, we need a parent who cares about children’s rights to be part of our steering group of children, staff and governors! We meet once a term for 30-40 minutes to discuss Rights issues and how Brookfield can continue to grow as a Rights school. Past topics have included the environment/sustainability, identity and safety. Please email Lillie at l.rosenblatt@brookfield.camden.sch.uk if you are interested! More information can be found here: https://www.unicef.org.uk/rights-respecting-schools/. Many thanks in advance for your support.
Summer Reading Challenge

Congratulations to the following children who completed The Reading Agency and Libraries summer reading challenge 2019;
Sienna (Reception) Mei and Suki (Y1) Marianne, Albi C, Oscar and Jimmy (Y2) Leila, Lily, Layla, Ruby, Annie and Chloe (Y4) Sam (Y5)
Please let the office know if your child completed the challenge as book vouchers will be presented in assembly soon.
Design your own Christmas cards 2019!
It may only be October but now’s the time to start thinking about Christmas! We’re running the Brookfield Christmas Card project again this year for children to design their own cards and help raise money for the school. It’s really easy to get involved! See more info (including the do’s and don’ts) here. We will be dedicating some classroom time to this next week but more than one piece of artwork can be submitted per child, so feel free to get involved at home over half term!
The deadline for finished art work to be handed into the office is soon! Wednesday 30th October so that we have enough time to send off the artwork, print the cards and return them to school.
Sports News:
Congratulations to the Y6 netball teams which both comfortably qualified for the finals. We will be playing on Tuesday at LSU if other Brookfield family members wish to cheer the team on.
Well done to our Y4 benchball squad. They took part in a mixed school competition on Wednesday. They all had a good time and returned with valuable match experience.
On Monday, Y5 will be visiting The Place for a dance workshop. This will kick start our continued school partnership which involves the children working towards performing on stage at the Camden School Dance Festival in May. More information will follow when available.
If any parents can support with this trip it will be greatly appreciated. They will leave at approx 9.15, walk to Archway to travel on the 390 bus to Kings Cross and return to school by approximately 2pm.
