Autumn SEND meetings
Following feedback at the open afternoon, we have decided to move SEND meetings for the Autumn term to late October. Katherine and Laura will write to parents with meeting dates and times.
Woodwork
I had the pleasure of visiting a year 2 woodwork workshop at Highgate Newtown Community Centre this week. The children were motivated, engaged and challenged by the activity of making an animal with moving parts. Rosa told me “It’s really fun, it’s awesome!”. Sebastian commented “I’m happy and excited. I can’t wait to see what we’re making next.” Juno enthused “I love doing woodwork!”. Thank you to Ricky and his assistant who are teaching the children, ably supported by our year 2 LSA Norah. I feel very grateful to be developing this partnership with Highgate Newtown Community Centre and the grant applications that Andrew Sanilitro has made to make this ambitious idea a reality. Thank you also to Emily, Lauren and Faye for planning and organising the provision. If any year 2 parents would like to support this work by walking the children to and from the workshop or staying for a session, please get in touch with Faye (f.winslade@brookfield.camden.sch.uk).
We look forward to year 1 benefiting from this opportunity after half term!
Gate opening and closing
We welcome our early years and infant children through the infant gate at 8.45am, with doors to the school opened at 8.50am. The junior gates and door are opened at 8.50am. All gates are then closed at 9am, latecomers and remaining parents are then invited to arrive and leave through the office entrance. At the end of the day, gates are opened at 3.30pm and closed at 3.45pm. If there are any PTA events on any day of the week, gates will stay open until 4pm. We endeavour to keep children safe by having an adult on each gate and grow the Brookfield community by enabling children and parents/carers to meet in the playgrounds after school.
School Strikes for Climate
The picture below shows Brookfield children proudly demonstrating at the Climate Strike. Thank you to all the children and families who have shared their experience. As a school community we are passionate about raising awareness about the issues of climate change and will mark future protests with special assemblies and in class activities. Following advice from Camden, requests for leave to attend the strikes will no longer be authorised.

After School Club News
Please ensure you inform the office if your child is not going to be attending on a particular day so that we can remove them from the register.
We are now accepting payment via childcare vouchers. Payment can be made with cash in the office or via your child’s scopay account. To set this up, you will need a unique link code for your child. Please ask the office for help with this.
Sports News

We came third overall in today’s Camden Sports Association cross country competition!
Thank you to all the children involved for giving their all! Thanks to parents and carers for their help and support! Special thanks to Jack Collins (Heavyn, Roman and Deacons Dad) for donating 90 bottles of water and for putting on the extra training sessions!
News from the Office
This half term’s lunches at £79.20. Please remember to name and label all children’s clothes and we will make an effort to reunite lost items with their owners.
