School News
Thank you to all the parents who have supported their children by attending sports days and yesterday’s open afternoon. It was great to meet new parents at the Reception parents’ get together on Tuesday.
We would like to invite parents and carers to feedback on the school via our website at any point during the school year. We hope this will be a more interactive approach than the annual survey. Your feedback will be used to build on positives and respond to recommendations. Look out for updates in future newsletters.
Changes to Celebrating Children’s Birthdays in school
From September, we are changing the way that children’s birthdays are celebrated in school. While we want to continue to make sure that children are made to feel special when it is their birthday, as a school we want to ensure that there is greater equality in the way that birthdays are celebrated and to do so in a healthier way. At present, some parents and carers choose to bring in cakes and other treats for their children to share with their class. However, for a variety of reasons, not every family is able to do this for their child. There are also a significant number of children in the school who have allergies and are therefore unable to take part in these celebrations. Furthermore, there is growing concern about the amount of sugar present in children’s diets and as part of our commitment to becoming a Healthy School, we have a responsibility to try and reduce the amount of food high in fat and/or sugar which is consumed at school.
When children return to school in September, all birthdays across the school will be celebrated in the same way. Children will be given a special birthday sticker by their teacher and sung ‘Happy Birthday’ to by their class. Please do not send in any cakes or other treats as, unfortunately, they will have to be sent home uneaten. Thank you in advance for your ongoing co-operation and support. We look forward to celebrating your child’s birthday in a healthy and positive way!

Sports News
Year 3 Swimming: Next term Year 3 will be swimming from Monday 23rd of September 2019. To make this possible, we need the help of parents or carers who are able to commit to regularly supervising the journey to and from the swimming pool as we cannot provide the necessary amount of staff members needed. Please let Haseeb know if you’re able to help!
Brookfield sport: A huge congratulations goes out to all of the children who took part in some form of competition throughout the school year as they have helped the school to finish in an amazing 6th out of 43 schools who took part. I mentioned a few years back that “success breeds expectation” which is something I am also guilty of! Our success is down to the hard work of the children and staff; long may this continue!
Haseeb’s absence: Next week from July 15th – July 22nd I will be away on a few courses and as well as a few days leave so will not be able to respond to any emails until I return on Tuesday July 23rd.
“Don’t compare yourself to others. There’s no comparison between the sun and the moon. They shine when it’s their time!” Be unstoppable! Wise old Haseeb h.khan@brookfield.camden.sch.uk
Clubs News
Please remember there are no clubs next week. Letters regarding our after school clubs offer for next term are coming home today. Please return by Monday 22nd June.

SUMMER FAIR

It’s actually tomorrow. (Sat 13th).
And you might be thinking – “they’ve got it all sorted”, but we always need help setting up, taking down, and generally being supportive, so please don’t hold back…
Things to donate:
- BOOKS AND TOYS as ever, good condition please
- RAFFLE PRIZES – you know the sort of thing
- CAKES for the tea/coffee/cake stall.
But most importantly – come, enjoy the music, food and fun, and have a good time. It’s 3 hours of Peace* and and Music.
YEAR 6 LEAVING PLANS
The disco is on Friday 19th July in the Highgate Civic Centre – just next to school. There will be food provided, and tickets are £3 per child. It is free for anyone eligible for pupil premium, and you can GET YOUR EMAIL TICKET VIA THE WEBSITE:
And there’s the Yearbook – a great memento of each child’s time at Brookfield, so we will make sure every child gets a copy, regardless. However, to help cover PTA costs, we are suggesting a £5 (or more) donation. You can use this PayPal link to contribute online, rather than going to the office: http://bit.ly/2xENFZi.
