SCHOOL NEWS

Congratulations to the year 6 children who have completed tests in maths, reading, spelling, punctuation and grammar this week. They all tried so hard and we are enormously proud of them. Next week, year 2 children will be completing assessments and we wish them every success in these. On Monday, I attended an exhibition launch at Highgate Library (photos below). Our current year 5 children worked with artist Sandie Sutton to produce art inspired by the season of summer. We look forward to developing our relationship  with the library and ensuring that all children are members, regularly borrowing books and feeling like it is a place where they belong. Laurel

MENTAL HEALTH WEEK

This week was  ‘Mental Health Awareness’ week where, as a school, we promoted the ‘5 Ways to Well-being’ as set out by the Mental Health Foundation.  Highlights of the week included: a special assembly discussing well-being, wake and shake to promote getting active, mindfulness activities and games designed to help the children connect with each other and to build support networks in school.

In addition to this, on the 6th June there will be a parent workshop on ‘Children’s Well-being’ running in the lower hall at 9am and again at 4pm which all parents and carers are invited to attend.

If you would like any more information on mental health and well-being, we have also included links  below:

WALK TO SCHOOL WEEK

Next week is Walk to School Week! As part of Brookfield’s ongoing commitment to promoting good air quality for children and the benefits of exercise, we encourage you to walk to and from school every day next week. Let’s see how many miles children and teachers can tot up in total. So far, one teacher walks a total of 16 miles every week – that’s more than the distance from Brookfield to Heathrow! Even more special is that this year is Living Streets’ 90th anniversary – the charity behind Walk to School Week. So let’s make it special! Thank you!

SPORTS NEWS

Please can you make sure your child has suitable foot wear for PE.

Y3 will be swimming on Monday.

The Y5/6 football team will take part in the Coram’s Fields tournament on Friday 7th June. If you have any of the school’s sports kit hanging around at home, please hand it back in to me. We have loads missing! Thanks.

If you look at people in your circle and don’t get inspired, then you don’t have a circle, you have a cage. Have a think about who you surround your self with – wise old Haseeb h.khan@brookfield.camden.sch.uk

CLUBS NEWS

If you haven’t already, please make sure you have paid the first half terms installment of clubs fees. Thank you.
