SCHOOL NEWS
It has been great to see the children this week, all looking a few cm taller and having enjoyed the Easter sunshine. A very warm welcome to Jack and his family who joined 5A. Congratulations to the children who represented Brookfield at the swimming gala today, Haseeb told me they were tremendously supportive of each other. Further details to follow in next week’s newsletter.
DoodleMaths
Brookfield is trialing a subscription to DoodleMaths. It is a computer program which can be accessed through an app on a tablet or mobile, or through the browser on computer. The aim of the app is to help children improve their maths fluency, through targeted questioning and games. It assesses the child’s progress daily and makes adjustments to ensure that the questions are truly targeted to their needs.
The school currently has funded 50 memberships and teachers have carefully selected the children who they think would benefit from using this app. Well done to all the children to are accessing it daily – you have made amazing progress! We appreciate feedback from parents and carers as we consider whether to continue with this intervention.
Although for now the school only has 50 memberships, if you would like to get your child a paid subscription for the app, then you can join the school’s network. If you would like any additional information, please ask Lucy (Year 2 teacher).

NEWS FROM THE OFFICE
This half terms lunches are £55.20.
Congratulations to our very own Mary Brown, Y4 LSA, who has been successful in having two short stories selected for inclusion in Fish Anthology 2019. Her story Owl Eyes won second prize and her other was given an honorary mention. The anthology will be launched as part of the West Cork Literary Festival in July. We are very proud of Mary’s achievement and it is great to have a published author on our staff as an inspiration to our children.
