SCHOOL NEWS

We have had a wonderful week which included: an NCETM maths visit, the Camden Choir Festival, London Youth Games, The London School of Contemporary Dance performance and visits to Kentish Town City Farm for Nursery and London Zoo for Y4 today. Please enjoy the pictures below. Thank you to all the parents and carers who attended open afternoon appointments yesterday and my ‘meet the headteacher sessions’.

Metropolitan Police Update

Police have been made aware of an incident on Dartmouth Park Avenue, Camden NW5 around 4pm on Wednesday 27th March 2019. A lone 14-year-old girl was approached by an unknown man who took hold of her and attempted to pull her along the road. A vehicle was seen nearby which is of interest. No arrests to date. The police investigation is ongoing but we remind students, parents and schools in the area to remain vigilant.

Any information relating to the incident please call the police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Police in Camden will have extra reassurance patrols in the area this afternoon and for the rest of the week.

WELLBEING WEEK

Next week is staff ‘Wellbeing Week’ where there will be a range of activities for staff to enjoy, for example, shared breakfasts, yoga classes and mindfulness sessions. During this week, we will be closing the school at 4.30pm each day and we therefore ask that any email correspondence is directed towards phase leaders to respond to. Thank you for your cooperation.

CAMDEN PRIMARY CHOIRS FESTIVAL

Faye writes: This week, I had the pleasure of accompanying the Junior Choir to the ‘Camden Primary Choirs Music festival’. Alongside other Camden schools, the children sang a range of different songs from Disney classics to classical compositions. Brookfield also had the chance to shine when they performed their individual solo piece conducted by Julia- which they performed brilliantly. Thank you to Julia for teaching the children these wonderful songs, for parents and carers who attended and for the choir who represented the school so well.

The Y6 Netball squad really enjoyed the London Youth Games yesterday. We finished 23rd out of 32. A lot of talent was displayed by our squad. A lovely experience for us all and the children had a great day.

Damien, our Hip Hop dance teacher has been over whelmed by the talent and creativity the children have shown during lessons. He would like to invite as many of you to attend auditions for his dance group!

The Y3 dance performance Wednesday 3rd April for 3L will start promptly at 9.15am and finish by 10am. Children who will be performing in the Rock Steady concert will perform first so they can then prepare for their second performance of the morning. 3M will perform at 11.30 – 12.15. All dance performances will be held in the top hall.

Children in the swimming gala have their last school training session on Monday. Please do take your child to Swiss Cottage pool for a swim to make them familiar with the environment so they are race ready when we return! The gala is Friday 26th April 10am – 2.30pm.

MARATHON FUNDRAISER

Rebecca Taylor (Ned’s Mum) is running the London Marathon and raising money for Dermatrust. This is the charity Sandy McBride (Dora’s mum) a consultant dermatologist at the Royal Free.

Dermatrust works hard to fund important and life changing skin cancer and skin disease research and treatment. Rebecca is really proud to be raising awareness and funds for this brilliant charity and enjoying the training (sort of;-).

The link to her fundraising page is here, it would be fantastic if anyone was able to sponsor her!  http://www.justgiving.com/Rebecca-Taylor110?utm_id=124

COME TO AN OPEN PTA MEETING ON MONDAY, 1ST APRIL, 9AM AT SCHOOL TO SHARE IDEAS AND START PLANNING! ALL WELCOME!!!

*** FOREST SCHOOL FUNDRAISING ***

For forest school/outdoor learning to be rolled out all the way up the school starting in September we need each year group to raise £1000.

The PTA has set a challenge for reps to raise the funds with their year group. This is not individual cash donations (although we may ask people to donate further down the line). The idea is to plan an event which is open to the whole school or, if you prefer, just your year group. Then each year’s £1000 will go into the pot to fund the project for the whole school.

Do drop us a line on the email below if you’d like to chat, or grab one of us in the playground.
