SCHOOL NEWS
Thank you to all the parents who attended the Y6 Sats information session and Y3 PAC maths. We also welcomed our new governors, Leanne and Frank, who spent the morning getting to know Brookfield. EYFS and KS1 enjoyed a visit from an animal handler and our oldest children enthusiastically engaged with a DJ workshop. Please see the photos below.
School closes to all children at 1.45pm on Thursday to enable parent/carer and teacher meetings. This will be a really useful opportunity for you to hear about how your child is doing at school, their progress and next steps. Please spend some time in the bottom hall enjoying the refreshments, company and stalls.
I am hosting three ‘meet your headteacher’ sessions and would invite you to come into school to meet me, learn about the priorities for the school this year and beyond and discuss how we can improve community inclusion over a cup of tea or coffee. I will also be sharing grand plans to roll out Forest School provision to all Brookfield children so they can benefit from outdoor learning in our unique location close to local parks and nature reserves. I hope you will join me:
Tuesday 26th March 5pm in the music room
Wednesday 27th March 9.05am in the music room
Wednesday 27th March 2.45pm in the bottom hall
Here is a wonderful example of collaborative play from the KS1 playground –
WILD FANGS!
On Monday we were visited by Wild Fangs, an exotic animal handling company. 1C got to meet a corn snake and a scorpion among other things!
FUTURE DJ’S
On Thursday, FutureDJ’s came in to school to run a workshop for Y5 and Y6’s.
CARD GAME OF THE WEEK
Y1 STEAM PROJECT
Year 1 continue their FAB project in line with the Camden STEAM project. We thought about what shapes an image is made up of to create our collage designs. We will be making our class book soon!
SPARE CLOTHES FOR RECEPTION
Do you have any spare clothes you could donate to school? Reception are particularly looking for bottom halves i.e trousers, leggings, tights, pants, socks etc. Age 4-5 years. Anything you have going spare would be very gratefully received.
SPORTS NEWS
Apologies for the confusion regarding the date for the swim gala. It is after the Easter break and will be held on Friday 26th April this year.
The y6 Netball team will be representing Camden in the London Youth Games Thursday 28th March. It is being held in Redbridge Sports Centre. The children will need to be at Talacre leisure centre by 8.15am and then collected from there at approximately 4.30pm.
The Y3 dance performance is being held on Wednesday 3rd April in the top hall. I am confirming the time for each classes performance and a letter will be given to the children this afternoon.
*Please can you label children’s PE kit and swim kit as we have had a few issues identifying clothing recently. If children do not have a school kit they can bring other sports clothing from home but must change in to different clothing.
Jewellery is not allowed in school other than stud earrings and items for religious beliefs which must be discussed with the school office. Hair that is shoulder length or longer must be tied up at all times during the school day.
‘We should have no regrets. The past is finished. There is nothing to be gained by going over it. Whatever it gave us is now experience to know to do better next time’. #thepainofdiscipline – Wise old Haseeb h.khan@brookfield.camden.sch.uk

*** FOREST SCHOOL FUNDRAISING ***
For forest school/outdoor learning to be rolled out all the way up the school starting in September we need each year group to raise £1000.
The PTA has set a challenge for reps to raise the funds with their year group. This is not individual cash donations (although we may ask people to donate further down the line). The idea is to plan an event which is open to the whole school or, if you prefer, just your year group. Then each year’s £1000 will go into the pot to fund the project for the whole school.
Do drop us a line on the email below if you’d like to chat, or grab one of us in the playground.
COME TO AN OPEN PTA MEETING ON MONDAY, 1ST APRIL, 9AM AT SCHOOL TO SHARE IDEAS AND START PLANNING! ALL WELCOME!!!
*** MENDING CAFÉ ***
The PTA is hoping to run a mending café at the open afternoon next Thursday 28th March, from 1.45pm, lower hall. Bring along your teddies with a detached eye/arm/leg, jeans that need patching, necklaces that need restringing etc – jobs that you never get around to doing. If you can volunteer to help run this please send us an email!
*** YEAR 2 BAKE SALE ***
This will be during the open afternoon and the mending café and other activities in the lower hall. Do please bring or bake – savoury and fruit always welcome!
