It is great to have the support of parents in growing our inclusive community and learning together. We look forward to welcoming Y4 parents and carers to pop-in to their child’s class on Thursday afternoon next week to celebrate the publishing of their amazing elephant reports and share other work. We have embraced a snow day today and hope you enjoy the following photos of our creative and fun-loving Brookfield children:
CURRICULUM NEWS
Year 1 will be taking part in a STEAM project in Springterm 2.
This is Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics.
As part of this, Bennetts associates architect firm will be coming in to help the children understand how space is used in a room.
For this to be successful, we need shoe boxes– LOTS OF THEM!
Please donate any shoe boxes you have to the office or year 1 team ready for our exciting project.
THANK YOU in advance!
INTERACTIVE RESOURCES
As many of you will be aware, the school has a subscription to the wonderful website ‘interactive resources’. There are some fantastic games on here which can be played on a computer and are a great way to support your child with their maths learning. Use the details below to access the site:

When you log-in, you will find folders for each year group with recommended games in, but there are also many other games on the website to explore.

There are many games on https://mathsframe.co.uk/ or http://www.topmarks.co.uk which can support children learning times tables.
SPORTS NEWS
The Y5/6 football team will take part in the play offs on Tuesday 5th February. The first match will start at 4pm and the last match will be finish at 5.40pm. We’re confident that we will qualify for the Camden league finals so do come along and cheer for the team!
We took part in a mixed school dodge ball tournament last week for Y5. The children who participated had a great time and a few returned with medals-well done!
Y3 start swimming lessons Monday 25th Feb. Y4 have two more weeks of swimming. I will be sending letters out to Y3 regarding their swimming lessons that start after half term.
The road to success is long and full of twists. We know we will be tempted to quit, to give in, to stay quiet. Just start, move and fight no matter what is thrown in our path.

THANKS TO ALL THOSE WHO CAME TO THE MEETING LAST THURSDAY!!!
And thanks to those who volunteered for upcoming PTA activities.
We talked about…
FUNDRAISING FOR FOREST SCHOOL
PLAYSTREETS IDEA
MENDING CAFÉ
INNOVATIVE IDEAS TO JAZZ UP OPEN AFTERNOONS AND BAKE SALES
JUMBLE SALES
ENHANCING COMMUNITY…
Among other things!
If any of these ideas float your boat and you’d like to know more or get involved, drop us a line at the email below or catch us in the playground.
*** FILM NIGHT ***
Tuesday Feb 12th in the lower hall, starting at 5pm. Refreshments will be available!
Tickets and info at https://dartmouthparkfilmclub.com/screenings.
The entry deadline for the animation competition is Feb 10th so you have a couple of weeks to come up with a brilliant animation and email it in – see the DPFC website for details.
*** EASY FUNDRAISING DRIVE***
Help Brookfield as you shop online!!!
If you buy (almost) anything online, signing up to Easyfundraising will also help the school.
Simply sign up on Easyfundraising at this link: http://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/brookfield-primary-highgate/
It costs you nothing – the retailer donates to the school.
If you aren’t sure about how to sign up or install the plug-in or mobile app, we will be running drop-in sessions at school to show you how – just bring in your mobile, and/or laptop / tablet and we will get you started. Session times to follow, but we are looking to do them every couple of weeks, depending on interest.
So far we have 116 parents and carers signed up, which has raised over £1,600 for Brookfield. If we could get that up towards 300, and get those signed up to check their account is activated, we could raise far more money, simply doing what many of us do anyway (a bit of normal internet shopping – eg eBay, Amazon, various supermarkets).
It doesn’t cost you anything, and takes just a few moments to sign up. You don’t have to be a school parent either – ask family and friends to sign up too. Even if you only shop online occasionally, if we all sign up it can make a difference.
