ATTENDANCE AND PUNCTUALITY AWARDS

Congratulations to the following children who achieved 99.7%+ attendance this year: Evie and Eva (1L), Louis (1M), Rudi and Ezra (2G), Georgia (3F), and Malachi (5L).

A special word of congratulations extends to the following children who also achieved 99.7%+ attendance and not a single late:  Elissa (1L), Arthur (1M), Milly (2G), Jake K and William (3F), Kitty (4C), Oren (4E), Mya (5L), Cyrus and Gwynn (5O) and Dan (6K).

In years 1 – 6, there were 117 children in total who managed to achieve no lates this year. Very well done!

Children received a range of different prizes in last Friday’s assembly for all their efforts to support excellent attendance and punctuality.

Y6 PRODUCTION – ROMEO AND JULIET

Each year, I find myself wondering how Y6 could ever improve on last year’s production and this year was no exception. The Y6 performance was absolutely magnificent!  The children’s portrayals of their roles showed a wonderful maturity and understanding and they performed their parts with great confidence and pride. Enormous credit extends to the children, Katie, Barnaby, Sue and Asher and Shakespeare Schools Foundation for all the amazing hard work which they invested into the production. As Katie said, ‘the children made it look effortless’. The whole experience confirmed for me once again, why Brookfield is such an amazing school – both academically and in terms of its wider curriculum. I’m sure that all those who saw the performance would agree that we have some exceptionally talented children and staff.

STAFF WELL BEING WEEK

Thank you to the parents, governors and staff who supported our well-being week. The staff were buoyed each day with fruit and cakes in the staffroom (the response was quite overwhelming and supremely generous), enjoyed group lunches, individual massages, a meditation session and early finishes. This was much appreciated: especially at this point in the year. We look forward to supporting our children and staff’s well being next year.

CITIZENSHIP MEDALS

Congratulations to the following children for receiving citizenship medals for demonstrating an exemplary attitude towards their learning and behaviour this year: Robin (RKS), Marianne (RS), Eva (1L), Vally (1M), Delilah (2G), Leila (2L), Lincoln (3F), Sam (3C), Ava (4C), Joshua (4E), Zoe (5o), Sumiyah (5L), Jamieson (6K) and Joe (6B)

MEET THE PARENTS – MONDAY SEPTEMBER 24TH

Our annual Meet the Parents event will be on Monday September 24th from 6.30  to 7.30pm. Families from the local secondaries will be here to give you the most up-to-date information about their school experience. Parents from all year groups are welcome at this invaluable event.

SPORTS NEWS

This year we finished 5th out of 49 schools; a drop from 3rd place last year, which took me some time to come to terms with ….. but still a fantastic achievement! We entered 11 competitions and won 9 trophies. This would not have been possible without the courage and determination of the children who represented the school over the year! Thank you to everyone involved.

PLEASE can the current Y4’s (and everyone else for that matter!) spend time swimming over the summer holidays. Even if it is once a week, get in to some form of water; a pool, the sea or even the ponds! GET SWIMMING! It is such an important skill to master.

For those who enjoy running, train over the holidays and get a step ahead for the cross country. I will continue with the morning training and will let you all know when it will start once we return.

Live by choice not chance
Be motivated not manipulated
Be useful not used
Make changes not excuses
Excel not compete
Self esteem not self pity
Listen to your inner voice not random opinion of others

Good luck Y6

Does your child play a musical instrument yet?

Camden Music Service offers a range of instrumental lessons at your child’s school. Lessons take place conveniently in school time, and once your child has been learning for a term or two, there are lots of music activities they can join to extend their learning and enjoyment.

You can see full details of what is on offer at your school at www.camden.gov.uk/musicservice and you can apply from there also. Camden Music will contact you with the offer of a lesson as soon as a space becomes available.

Playing a musical instrument is about more than music. It can support your child’s literacy and numeracy development, helps with concentration, co-ordination, memory and mood, and can lead them to a career or be a lifelong, satisfying activity where they will make friends.

Give your child the gift of music – visit the Camden Music website today.

REMAINING ALERT

Please make sure that potentially dangerous items which should be left at home, don’t make their way into school and are kept safe and out of reach. Many thanks!

AND FINALLY

It just remains for me to say, a massive thank you for all your care and support over this last year. We have loved teaching your children  – you can be so proud of them – and delighted by the way they have matured and progressed over this last year. Like you, we are all really looking forward to our summer holidays and would particularly  like to wish Y6 the very best of luck as they move on to their new secondary schools in September – continue to make us proud!

For all those who will be returning in September, we look forward to seeing you on Wednesday September 5th  – 8.55am at the latest.
