TRANSITION MEETING FOR YR PARENTS

DARTMOUTH PARK FILM CLUB FOR KIDS FUNDRAISING EVENT

Many, many thanks to Lizzie Gillett and her team for staging another memorable Film Night last Thursday. The children loved watching the Disney classic – 101 Dalmations and viewing 10 amazing animations created by the children. These included animations by Juno (RKS), Albi (RS), Louis (1M) Tommy, Laila, Eva and Betty (2L), Nancy, Cora, Emilia and Ivy (4E) and Ned (4c). It was great to be able to welcome children and families from other schools too  – a real community event. In total we sold 180 tickets and managed to raise £845 for the school!

We had some great feedback from an attending parent, Sophie wrote:

Just wanted to say thank you for such a lovely event. I came with my daughter who’s starting at Brookfield in September, and it was the nicest possible introduction to the school for her (although possibly she now thinks that school mostly involves eating popcorn and watching movies). And the kids’ films were amazing!

PYJAMA FUNDRAISING DAY

Many thanks to all those who turned up in their pyjamas, slippers and teddies on Friday to help school council raise funds for some new playground equipment. In all we raised a fantastic £596.61!

WALK TO SCHOOL WINNERS

Well done to everyone who took part in the 5-Day Walking Roots Challenge as part of Walk to School Week just before half term. Lots of children made a fantastic effort completing their activity diaries as part of the challenge and teachers have now had the chance to look through them and select one from each class which they were particularly impressed with.

The following children will be receiving a pedometer as a prize, as soon as they arrive:

Freddie (1M), Jacob (1L), Sunny (2G), Winnie (2L), Marie (3F), Ivy (3C), Clara (4E), Kitty (4C), Abigail (5O), Noah (5L), Allia (6B), Sam M (6K). Every child who took part should have received a packet of sunflower seeds to grow at home.

SPORTS NEWS

Y5 and Y6 Camden Schools Sports Association athletics competition takes place tomorrow on Hampstead Heath running track. We should be leaving soon after drop off. PLEASE CHECK THE WEATHER AND SEND YOUR CHILD WITH SUITABLE CLOTHING, SUNSCREEN AND HATS IF APPROPRIATE.

Congratulations to the Y5 and Y6 cricket team. The boys lost by 13 runs in the semi finals to the eventual winners and the girls narrowly lost in the final.

We should be really proud of all our teams! Once again we have had a superb year in all competitions showing our strength and well rounded ability!

Tuesday 26th June is KS2 Sports Day from 9.30 – 12pm at the running track – we hope you can make it!

PLEASE can parents of children who have represented the school check at home for school kit! We are still missing lots of kit!!

You will never know until you try. Pause, take a deep breath and do it! – wise old Haseeb
