Curriculum news

As previously mentioned,  Sue and Linda are looking for a parking area nearby that is not in use during the day/morning which they can use. As an alternative, they would also be interested in any spare parking permits which they could buy. Please contact the office if you think you might be able to help with either of these. They would be so grateful!

Nursery Writing Workshop

This Wednesday May 2nd, we will be running a parent workshop about how to support your child in developing their writing skills between 9-10.30. This will start ,with an opportunity to take part in some writing based activities with your child, followed by a presentation to parents and a chance to ask questions. This will be a really informative session and we would encourage you all to attend.

Y1 Shakespeare Workshop for Parents / Carers

Many thanks to the 23 parents / carers who turned up for last week’s Shakespeare workshop led by Tom Davey from The Globe’s Education department. Feedback from parents, carers and Tom was extremely positive. Participants were provided with an outline of the project’s aims, explored the different characters of Henry V through drama and were given questions which they could ask their children. It was a lively, engaging and thought provoking session.

Spring Concert

Congratulations to all our performers who took part in last week’s Spring Concert. As always the standard of playing was high and it was particularly encouraging to hear some of the children from KS1 perform for the first time. A big word of thanks extends to Julia for organising the concert, to Tanya, Dave and Tamatha for all their support and to all the parents / carers who attended. A compilation of clips, created by Mark and Dave will be uploaded onto the school’s web-site in due course.

Table Top Sale

Many thanks to all those parents / carers who turned up after school on Friday for our Table Top Sale. We raised £350 towards the school. A special word of thanks extends to Rebecca and Lianne for organising the event, P3 for allowing us to use the hall and to Derek and the office staff for all their support behind the scenes.

5O Trip to Paris

This Thursday, I will have the pleasure of joining Olly and his class for their day trip to Paris. We will be setting off nice and early from Kings Cross International and journeying to Paris via Eurostar. Once we arrive at Gare Du Nord, we will then visit our link school in Paris – Ecole Elementaire, before taking lunch in a local park and journeying on to to the Eiffel Tower. It promises to be an action packed day and a great opportunity for the children to practise their French and to taste some Parisian culture. 5L will be taking part in their Paris trip in June.

Improving Punctuality

Please can we all make an extra effort to ensure that children arrive to school on time. We are still have lots of children arrive after 8.55am and this is having a disruptive impact on the start of lessons. Gates open at 8.50am and children are allowed to start making their way up to class at this time. The latest that children should be arriving in class is just after 8.55am. Many thanks!
