- Creative, child centered and rich provision
- Excellent outdoor area
- Weekly Forest School

Spring term Curriculum Letters
This term’s curriculum letters will be sent out this Friday. Do take time to read them. They contain lots of useful information and dates.
New Year’s Resolution
On Friday, I retold the story of King Midas and the Golden touch and linked it to our new Year’s Resolution ‘Develop an attitude of gratitude’. As a core value, we are keen to develop children’s sense of appreciation and with this in mind will be supporting a couple of charities this term, as well as encouraging children to find other ways to show their appreciation. Thank you to all those parents / carers who sent in Christmas cards, presents and well wishes in the run up to the end of term. We really appreciate it!
EYFS and KS1 Phonics Information Session for Parents – 10th January 2018
This Wednesday 10th January at 9am in the bottom hall, Katherine and Laurel will be hosting a session for parents to learn about Brookfield’s approach to phonics. If you have a child in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2, please do come along to learn about phonics and how we teach it. The presentation will be the same as last year, but please do feel free to join us again if you would like some refresher training! Coffee and tea will be provided after the session. Younger siblings are welcome and a play area in the hall will be provided.
If you are unable to attend, a handout and slides will be made available on the school website.
Y3 investigate a classroom ‘break in’!
Today the children in year 3 have had lots of fun investigating a mysterious break-in as part of their literacy lesson. There were lots of strange clues left behind which the children will be writing about in a newspaper report. Hopefully we will have solved the crime by the end of the week!

Brookfield Volunteers
This week, Mel will be sending out a letter regarding how you can get involved as a Brookfield volunteer. As you will be aware, the school has had to make significant savings over the last few months to help balance the books and so any extra help would be much appreciated. We look forward to receiving your responses.
Donating to the school
As mentioned in a letter which was sent out in March 2017, we are looking for donations towards various projects. This term we are looking for specific donations towards the following:
Young Shakespeare Company Workshop for years 5 and 6 – £650 and Baby Chicks for Y2 – £650
Whilst we have managed to secure some funding through voluntary contributions at the start of the year, if there is anybody who would like to sponsor these events / activities, we would love to hear from you.
We are extremely grateful to a parent for donating £1000 towards this term’s World Book Day. Many thanks! This will go towards paying for workshops from authors and poets and organising other exciting activities on the day. More details to follow nearer the time.
For further ways to support the school financially, please refer to the school’s web-site under PTA. Many thanks.
