The Club Programme for Autumn 2009

Club For whom? When? Where? What? Trial session?
The Infant Choir Year 1 and Year 2 children who like singing. Every Wednesday, 2.30 – 2.50pm (during playtime, though the children will get an extra play at the end of term). bottom hall Playing singing and rhythm games, singing fun songs, movement and performing. 16th September
The Junior Choir Years 4 – 6 in the Autumn term, and Year 3 in the Summer term. The children who would like to join will have an informal audition in a small group (they do not need to prepare a song). Those children who were in the choir last year, have an automatic place. Every Thursday, 3.30 – 4.30pm (a drink and a snack are provided) music room Learning and practising a wide range of songs and performing to others. Some song words will need to be learnt at home. If your child is given a place after auditioning, then they will be able to attend the trial session on September 24th.
The Brookfield Orchestra Any age of child who is able to play at least 8 notes on an instrument and read music. Ideally, they need to have been learning to play for at least a year. Every Thursday, 2.30 – 3.00pm music room Practising and performing a range of instrumental pieces in several parts. Parts will be given out in advance and your child will need to practise his/her part at home. 17th September
Beginner Recorder Club Years 3–6 children who would like to learn to play the recorder Every Monday, 1.00 – 1.20pm library Learning to play the recorder and to read music. We will perform to others. Your child will need to have his/her own recorder (these can be bought from school for £5 once your child has attended a trial session in which they may borrow a recorder). Your child will need to practise at home. 14th September
Intermediate Recorder Club Years 3-6 children who have previously been a committed member of the beginner recorder club or those who can play and read the notes E, G, A, B on the recorder. Every Tuesday, 1.00 – 1.20pm library Learning to play and read new notes and tunes on the recorder. We will perform to others. Your child will need to have his/her own recorder and she/he will need to practise at home. 15th September
Advanced and Treble Recorder Club Years 3-6 children who have previously been a committed member of the intermediate recorder club or those who can play and read tunes using as many as 6 notes on the recorder. Every Friday, 1.00 – 1.20pm library Learning to play and read new notes and tunes on the descant or treble recorder. We will perform to others. Your child will need to have his/her own recorder and she/he will need to practise at home. 18th September
Fife Club Year 5 children who learnt the fife last year Every Wednesday, 1.00 – 1.20pm library Learning new notes and tunes on the fife. Your child will need to have their own fife (these can be bought from school for £6 once your child has attended a trial session in which they may borrow a fife) and she/he will need to practise at home. 16th September
Instrumental lessons various They are during school time, but in the afternoons when the children are not studying core subjects. various

The lessons are reasonably priced and further details are in the application form which can be sent to you. There may be a waiting list. Your child will learn how to play the instrument and to read music and it is important that he/she practices at home.
